zebra daemons not starting at boot
by Marty 29 Sep '09

29 Sep '09

Maybe not really a question for this group but I figured people must have done this. I am running koha 3 on debian lenny, and everything works as far as I can tell. However, somehow I am missing something because I cannot get the zebra daemons to start at boot. I have to start them manually; /usr/share/koha/bin/koha-zebra-ctl.sh start and /usr/share/koha/bin/koha-zebraqueue-ctl.sh start Can somebody maybe tell me what they have in their /init.d/koha-zebra-daemon and /init.d/koha-zebraqueue-daemon files? Any help is appreciated! Marty __________________________________________________________________ The new Internet Explorer® 8 - Faster, safer, easier. Optimized for Yahoo! need to copy MARC 82 field to "o-Full Call Number" field in item record
by Brian Thomas 29 Sep '09

29 Sep '09

Hi everyone, I've searched the wiki and my archived emails of this list and have not found what I'm looking for. I'm not sure if I'm using the best search terms for this, but here's my problem: I'm still relatively new to Koha, I'm a high school librarian- one person operation. I'm always looking for ways to stream line my acquisitions process. I'd like to have the Dewey number from the MARC 082 field automatically copied to the item record in the "o-Full Call Number" field. This seems like an obvious help, so I may be missing something that I should have done in the set up. Thanks in advance for your help!! Editing Marc Subfields
by Roche III, Edward 29 Sep '09

29 Sep '09

Good Morning It was brought to my attention this morning that if you try and manually enter a Marc record that certain subfields are grayed out. These fields have a link next to them to do a search but when you search it returns "no records found". Is there a setting somewhere for this to work or is there a way to manually enter this data? If you do an import from say Library of Congress it imports the data fine. Any thoughts or suggestions would be great. Thanks Ed Edward J. Holds printed receipt
by Melanie Hedgespeth 29 Sep '09

29 Sep '09

Where can we set the wording for the receipts printed for items on hold? Right now we can "print slip and confirm" but we do not want the patrons address, phone and email on there. But we do want their name which is there, but we also want the item's title. Melanie <http://www.facebook.com/pages/Salina-KS/Salina-Public-Library/917121931 39?ref=s>

Hi I have been working with Chris Cormack on the next stable release. It looks pretty stable now. And should be able to be released as soon as "major translations" are up to date. So please translators, feel free to update the translations. I think we should aim to release at the end of next week. Yours -- Henri-Damien LAURENT

Display subtags by default when cataloguing
by Nelson Fredsell 28 Sep '09

28 Sep '09

Dear all, We're trying to make life easier for our catalogers. When not using Z39.50 Search, we're using a biblio framework. When a tag is important we want subtags to be displayed automatically, i.e. we don't want to have to click the Tag name in order to make the subtags display. It looks like we should assign a number in the Advanced Constraints | hidden field, and have been referring to the manual for settings: http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.0/administration/catalog-administrat…. It looks like zero (0) is the setting we would need, but this isn't working: "0 => OPAC Intranet Editor !Collapsed" Specific example: We want 260a, 260b, 260c to display. 245a and 245b display, but 245x is set as mandatory in the framework. We don't want 260x to be mandatory. Any suggestions? Thanks very much, Nelson implementing a union catalog in Cape Town, South Africa -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Display-subtags-by-default-when-cataloguing-tp2562755… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Koha Helppp
by Trust412 28 Sep '09

28 Sep '09

Hello All, I am working in my school library and I am new to Koha. I am currently running Koha 3.0.1. I would like to edit or configure the catalog search bar section on top of the catalogs when a search is made. It is the area that is above all the books that are listed when a search is made. By edit, I mean changing the interface and the way it appears to the general public. I was told that I need to use a css style script to do this or some css style template of some sort. I am really unsure about this and I need your help. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Koha-Helppp-tp25577784p25577784.html Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

So, what does this mean for the OS ILS community?
by Cab Vinton 28 Sep '09

28 Sep '09

Any relevance to the current discussion about a Koha Foundation? IMLS National Leadership Grants just announced @ http://www.imls.gov/news/2009/092409b_list.shtm#WA *King County Library System - Issaquah, WA* Award Amount: $998,556; Matching Amount: $1,014,400 Grant Category: Demonstration Contact: Mr. Jed Moffitt Director of Information Technology Services (425)369-3433; jmoffitt(a)kcls.org Project Title: "Empowered by Open Source" The Open Source Library System (OSLS) and the open source model provide an alternative to the current proprietary integrated library system (ILS) software business model used by most public libraries. An OSLS empowers libraries to actively engage in the design and optimization of their own system software. The OSLS business model spreads the development work across a wide range of contributors, extends the potential pool of service providers, and empowers libraries to optimize service to their customers. King County Library System (KCLS), a nationally recognized leader in public library service and technology, will partner with Peninsula Library System (San Mateo, California), Orange County Library System (Orlando, Florida), and Ann Arbor (Michigan) District Library to create and develop the critical infrastructure components that have traditionally been provided by ILS vendors and will establish a peer-to-peer support model for open source libraries. The project will stimulate a growing community of libraries moving to an OSLS that will benefit from and contribute to software applications as well as the support infrastructure.
