Hi all git.koha.org appears to be down at the moment (for a couple of hours now). I'm guessing Liblime are aware of it and are working on getting it back up. In the meantime http://repo.or.cz/w/koha.git is up to date. Maybe we need to think about shifting git.koha.org to a different server? Chris
That's not a bad idea. I think moving to a service the does nothing except provide git hosting would be a good idea. I imagine that would give us the best uptime. Perhaps Gitorious or BerliOS. I've never had any trouble with Sourceforge Git hosting either ( and Sourceforge now supports multiple repos per project ). I sure Liblime wouldn't mind having one less thing to worry about. The co-op's review of candidates liked Gitorious and self-hosting. I can go looking for the reasons if anyone's interested. Of course, git means we can clone it all over the place fairly cheaply, so I think the RMs should be free to choose the primary locations, as long as they're stable and accessible. I think Chris Cormack gave me access to the Gitorious koha, so I could set cron job(s) on the co-op servers to keep that updated if that's a good idea and no-one else wants to. More about this from me later, but I'd be interested where others want to see this go. Stability and accessibility are at the top of my wish list. "Where" does not really matter so much. Although my brief experience with github has found them to have some reliability issues. Kind Regards, Chris
We’re using github (in fact, our public repo that I’ve been working on will be there), and haven’t had any problems with reliability. Speed of the web interface is occasionally irritatingly slow, but that’s a sometimes thing. For the most part, it works fine for us here at PTFS. J. I can give any one else who wants access to the gitorious repo access also, just tell me your username. (I push there as a backup for my local repo on git.workbuffer.org .. git.catalyst.net.nz has a copy of my work repo) Chris

Gitorious could be a safe choice, savannah could be another option. But it's not git repo only. sourceforge too. Git hub has quite bad reputation.

Github is a great service, but it suffers from performance issues, and was DDOS attacked specifically targeting certain software projects (but hurting everybody). Basically, it suffers from being too popular, but I still use it. --Joe
