Greetings, I'm having trouble getting the Google login to work since upgrading/rebuilding Koha (we rebuilt the VPS and followed the install guide: https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Debian) *The problem:* 1) I can log in through my local account, no problem. 2) I then try to login through my Google account 3) After pressing allow from the accounts.google.com site, a message is displayed: /Sorry, your Google login failed. .../ The full message is below. "Log in to your account Google login Sorry, your Google login failed. The email address you are trying to use is not associated with a borrower at this library. Please note that the Google login will only work if you are using the e-mail address registered with this library. If you want to, you can try to log in using a different account Log in with Google If you do not have a Google account, but do have a local account, you can still log in:" There are no errors in the Apache log files. *Configuration* Since we had troubles, I'm following the testing guide to configure the OAuth login: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10988#c68 I removed the Google OAuth entries: DELETE FROM systempreferences WHERE variable LIKE 'GoogleO%'; I then ran the upgrade schema tool, as I did when I imported the db: sudo koha-upgrade-schema keiin_lib I added values back in admin panel (Home › Administration › System preferences > Google OpenID Connect I confirmed the 4 values are displayed in the MySQL DB: SELECT * FROM systempreferences WHERE variable LIKE 'GoogleO%'; Any thoughts? Koha on Debian 10

Hi, Thanks for the replies, it seems that I need to be running Debian 9 ( Stretch) not version 10 (Buster) but there is someone called: mtj on IRC who is working on Debian 10. There doesn't seem to be a downgrade option in Debian so reinstalling the whole operating system is pretty awkward. I hope (MTJ) includes Debian 10 support soon. Best Regards, Aindriú

404.pl

While watching the top command on my ubuntu server, I notice that while retrieving search items in the OPAC I get a lot of 404.pl instances. These seem to be a drag on the performance of the server. (We are a small school with a small VPS server). I assume that these are caused by Koha searching for missing covers. Is there any way to mitigate the effect of these searches? Is there a timeout setting or even disable these searches? Thanks.

Koha wiki update/replacement

Hello Koha community! There has been discussion about updating or replacing the wiki (https://wiki.koha-community.org) The software behind the current wiki is out of date and we need to upgrade it. Or we could replace it with something more lightweight or more user-friendly. The current wiki is a gold mine of information, but that good information is hard to find. This email is an attempt to start a conversation about the best plan of action to upgrade our wiki. The main argument for changing is that the MediaWiki version we are using is obsolete. - Should we continue with a more recent version of MediaWiki or change the software? It has been argued that maybe MediaWiki is a bit to complex for our needs. DokuWiki (https://www.dokuwiki.org/dokuwiki) was cited as an option, but it's apparently too light and one needs to learn the special syntax. - If we change the software, do you have a suggestion? Some have suggested that we simply archive the current wiki and start fresh with a new one. - Would you be in favor of starting over? I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but my hope is only to get the ball rolling and that this project does not fall in the cracks once again. lockdir variable in koha config file

I am still seeing some issues with the variable "lockdir" in the koha-conf.xml file. I'm getting the message: The configured <lockdir> entry in your koha-conf.xml file points to a non-writable directory (/var/lock/koha). What is unclear is *WHO* needs to write to this directory, which might change where I say the lockdir directory is located. In my case, on boot up, the ownership of /var/lock/koha is set to root with mode 755. So, there, few have ability to write to the directory. But, there may be subdirectories that can be updated, depending upon who needs access. No combinations have yet worked for me, however. There is no mention of lockdir in the documentation for 20.11 and the only thing we could find was some bugzilla updates. And yet, it is seen as something to warn about. Can whoever added it to the code also add it to the documentation? And explain what it is supposed to be used for and who needs the write access? When does .latest get switched

Just curious if there is a specific amount of time between a release and when that release becomes the ".latest" version of the software. I have some automation behind my builds and wanted to get the 20.11.04 version. But it is not yet cut over as the 20.11.latest version. Is that an oversight or is there a certain amount of time between a release and a version becoming the .latest version? Shibboleth-only authentication

We are testing Koha 20.11.04 and are interested in the new Shibboleth-only authentication feature. I have set "staffShibOnly" to "Don't allow staff to login by means other than shibboleth." If I have already logged in to another Shibboleth site, when I visit the Koha staff client, I'm automatically logged in without getting a login prompt. I suspect that this is the intended behavior, but all of our other Shib-enabled campus services have a login link. More problematic is the fact that on logging out of the staff client, it simply logs me in again. Does anyone have any experience with this new feature? I'm wondering how to avoid automatic login without having to click a login link, and how to log out without having it log me in again. I suppose an alternative would be not to use the "staffShibOnly" setting and instead alter the login page template to remove the local login section. Newly cataloged materials alerts?

Does Koha have a feature that allows users to get email alerts about materials that are new and/or updated? I'm looking for something like Millennium/Innovative "Preferred Search", which allows users to save a search, and get emailed at regular intervals with matching results. In our current system, the trigger that identifies "new" records is an update to the "cat date" field in the record. Therefore, users get emailed about records that are both new and updated/recatalogued. So far, it looks like Koha would either offer RSS feeds, or else permit using an Item Type (this would not work for us-the "trigger" needs to be date-dependent), to achieve this kind of functionality. Are there other options for getting this kind of behavior for individual users (perhaps 200 people), who only care about specific call number series, or specific items, that have been updated, say, in the last week?
