As far as I know, yes. If you read that whole thread you'll find that I questioned some of the things that Joshua claimed were possible in that and subsequent messages. That does sound like a good workable solution, thanks. You could also probably put the students photo with it to make it even easier. Changing the blue color on the search bar of OPAC

Hi all, I have managed to change the background color for my koha OPAC. Now I want to change the blue background color on the search bar to suit my corporate colors. Any idea on how to achieve this? I'd really like my Item Type to be able to display an icon right on the search result, without having the member having to drill down to the detail page. In searching on this issue, I see discussions about the little icons associated with the MARC leader - don't think I want to go there. And a whole lotta talk about "biblio level" vs "biblioitem level" fields. Which has got me very confused, because a few years back when I was first exploring Koha, I was told that this distinction was a leftover from pre-MARC database design, and that now these are functionally a single table with 1:1 links between them. Here's a more recent explicit statement: http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2009-December/021641.html Has this changed with later releases and there is now a one:many link between a biblio record and many bibioitems? If not, then I don't see why the ability to display an icon on the search results should depend on which (part of) the record it's in? I see there is a preference as to which table's itemtype to use, between biblioitems's itemype or items' itype - is that relevant and even if not why would I choose one over the other? My current use case is that I have multiple media types for a single film. It's all exactly the same video, not a different edition, but one might be a disc that's playable on a consumer player (Disc-Video), another may contain computer files (Disc-Data), another combines both (Disc-Mixed), some of our VHS tapes haven't been converted yet, and some really old home movies are even on 35mm! It seems to me that I must catalog these as separate biblios, which creates multiple identical copies of the biblio-level MARC data, and just different ("holdings level") data in the items table, including item type. So when a patron searches for "2009 Proms Gala" they will get four identical but separate results. How can I indicate the different item types right there without them having to go back and forth between the search results and the detail screen? Ideally with a configable icon, but plain text would be OK. Worse case scenario I could use re-purpose "shelving location"? (yech) Note that I'm going to enable Collection rather than ItemType as a factor in advanced searching; I'm just looking for the ItemType to display in the search results. A related question - is there a way to bulk update the "biblio" level information for all four of these separate records in a single operation?

Unable to save acquisition order

problem sending email using nullmailer with Koha 3.2 on UBUNTU 10.10 and gmail as smtp.

nullmailer is configued as follows mail name of your system: koha smarthosts: smtp.gmail.com smtp --port=465 --user=mylibrarystaff(a)gmail.com --pass=xxxxx have also tried it using port=587 it has been trying to send overdue notices that seem to be correctly configured, and I have tried to send purchase suggestions as "test" emails but nothing comes through. getting this error message in mail.log Feb 17 19:04:04 koha nullmailer[8071]: Starting delivery: protocol: smtp host: smtp.gmail.com file: 1296735302.1339 Feb 17 19:04:04 koha nullmailer[8071]: Sending failed: Unspecified error any suggestions greatly appreciated! thaqnks.

3.2.3 Debian packaging

Working from a clean Debian6 install, I wasn't able to get koha-common's script to work (probably my fault, more on that later after some more noodling around if I can't get it to work), so I aptitude purge'd it and then aptitude install'd the plain koha package. That worked fine, so I thought I'd go back and try again with the koha-common script, but this time I noticed there was all kind of kruft left over after the purge. I'll probably start over again with a fresh OS install, but I thought I'd put it out here - my understanding is that an aptitude PURGE is supposed to get rid of all data, config files, logs etc, basically a best effort to return the system to the way it was, especially if nothing else was added between the install, attempted configure and then the purge. As opposed to REMOVE which is supposed to delete all the binaries but leave the config files. I imagine this is an issue for the person responsible for the packaging, if s/he doesn't hang out here, could someone please forward this? I don't feel I've tested it thoroughly enough to file a bug. . .

Respected All I am entering the data of our Serials in Koha. re Patron Import (update)

Thankyou very much to all those kind people who sent files and tips. My problem was with files that would not work in either Excel or Filemaker. I am now using Numbers (iWork) to import the data, changing it to the correct formats, copying the correct header rows and exporting as Unicode (UTF-8). Then I can import the file into Koha and it works a treat. It's a bit of a mission but I only have to do it once a year. Regards Ann Murphy

Is there a KOHA users list as opposed to a developer's list? If not, I propose we have one. I find most of the items fascinating, but not applicable. as we have a support company who do this work. My questions run low level techie, use side instead of high level techie, developers side? how do I use the system as opposed to how do I change code to make the system work.
