I will send what I find on Monday as the dedicated koha server is down for the wknd. Appreciate ur help on this barcode printing. I will switch encoding to UTF-8 and hopefully that will take care of the problem. Glad to know this. Have a good wknd. Mine is set to ANSI. Should it be Unicode? Please reply the list also so others may help or be helped. :-) Everything Koha should be UTF-8. Encoding issues are very common problems with label printing. So this might be an issue. If it is, there should definitely be an error logged inside of the corrupted PDF. If you don't mind, send along the corrupt PDF, and I'll have a look. Kind Regards, Chris

Re: [Koha] Copies available… but only if the OPAC language is English

KOHA 3.2.5 SPANISH I have the same problem/bug look at http://clavius.tij.uia.mx and search for "art", etc.. In the previus version the list result show the "No item available: The library that have the book, the LC class number, and the copies avaliable en every Library installed in red color". This is very useful and informative for the OPAC users. And more, in this version in the record detail the MARC, ISBD tabs are not displayed an the record appear in the normal view. My preferences setting are correct. In the intranet the spanish language display english words in this version. If i use the xlst files, displays a search results with no info, not an arror mesasge... no info. Look the previus version 3.2.4 (recreated here) and see the diference with the actual version. http://consag.tij.uia.mx/koha/koha_resultados.png Adalid Ortiz Biblioteca Loyola http://www.loyola.tij.uia.mx OPAC con KOHA http://clavius.tij.uia.mx

Problem with printing barcodes
by Margaret Matthews 04 Mar '11

04 Mar '11

Hello, I am new to KOHA, using it in a very small rural school (valentineisd.com) in the high desert mountains of Southwest Texas, USA. I have a problem with printing barcodes and need some help please. I cannot get the call number to print on the barcodes and many times when I go to print the barcodes I export to a pdf file and then when I try to open it the following comment is made "there was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be reapired." I have tried running barcodes on three different computers and three different printers and I get the same results. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong in both of these cases? Thank you in advance. Margaret Matthews mamatthews(a)hughes.net Valentine ISD

Add more informations to the virtual shelves item lists
by anita 04 Mar '11

Hello ! I am new to Koha and I experience a problem. I create virtual shelves lists for my users, so that they don't have to search by themselves. They asked now that they want to know if a book is available online in full text without having to click on the title to have more details. I want to add the online availability information directly to the virtual shelves list, but I dont' know how to do this. Maybe by editing the XSLTs ? Do you have some ideas ? We managed to display this information on the search results lists, but not on the virtual shelves lists. Thanks ! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Add-more-informations-to-the-virtual-shel… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

scanning isbn number for circulation
by Klaas Chielens 04 Mar '11

Hi, I'm trying to use the isbn number on books as the book barcode. however, when I scan the barcode of the isbn it registers the number but does not find the book. I think I need to set a mapping somewhere. I tried mapping the koha value items.barcode to marc 20a (isbn) but that does not seem to do the trick. We currently do not have barcodes on our books and were planning to just add them through z39.50 as much as we could by scanning the isbn number and using this for cataloging. * can anyone tell me how to make sure that the "item barcode:" that is asked when checking out is the same as the isbn number? * would you for any reason advise against using the isbn code and, if necessary, have several versions of the same book like this? We are a pretty small library for a research institute and not a public library so our collection is "limited". thank you! UNIMARC cataloging, authority to 200f?
by catalina 04 Mar '11

04 Mar '11

Hello, I am trying to configure an UNIMARC Koha, yet i have run into some trouble with the authority fields. I was wondering if there is any way to link the 200$f field to an authority record, but also keep the data in the other fields. I tried doing this the usual way, but i ended up as expected with authority data imported in all the subfields. I know this is an ISBD field, but could I somehow add only the "Statement of responsibility" data from 200$a of the authority record to the 200$f of the biblio? Thank you for any assistance, Kind regards, Catalina

Koha - problem with searching subjects linked to authorities
by Linda Culberson 03 Mar '11

03 Mar '11

All, I am having a problem in the opac where when you click on a underlined linked for an author or subject heading that is in the authorities (and has a subfield 9) it says something similar to "No results match your search for “an:#### ” in Mississippi Dept. of Archives and History Catalog" Only the ones that have this problem have a subfield 9 showing it is linked to authorities seem to be doing this. Doing a browse by subject for the subject heading and clicking a tied record, will pull up the record without an error. It is only when clicking on a link from the view of a selected record that it happens. For example, doing a subject search for "united states civil war 1861-1865" pulls up 2395 results. If I click on one of the results, and it has an subfield 9 -- Linda Culberson lculber(a)mdah.state.ms.us Archives and Records Services Division Ms. Dept. of Archives & History P. O.
