by Ashish Shukla 05 Mar '14

05 Mar '14

Dear Sir, Sorry to bring a question to the list, but we're facing a problem in KOHA under circulation report and I need some advice and help. We are a small academic library with about 8 library assistants.We have created separate staff-type patron login records for them, so they are using staff login ID & password, on behalf of login ID and password they are doing circulation but we are not find out one staff login ID how many books or serials are transactions. Then it occurred to staff member that with a busy circulation desk many people use the circulation station throughout the day. In this connection: we are request to you, please kindly provide help to me, how can trace out multiple staff login ID circulation reports. your earlier response in this regard will be highly appreciated. *With Regards,* *Ashish Kumar 9717864664*

Re: [Koha] [LIS-Forum] E-resource management with Koha - Implemented at UoM
by Ishwar Goudar 04 Mar '14

04 Mar '14

Dear Professionals, I appreciate Mr. V.K. Mishra*s suggestion of ERM using Koha. Yes, we can use Koha for giving access to E-books, with full texts being available at Publishers´ or local server. We at University of Mysore have implemented this idea 3 years back itself and have provided access to full texts of > 18,000 books of four publishers put together viz. Springer, T & F, Wiley and CRC Press. Please search UoM Library OPAC available at http://libcatmysore-koha.informindia.co.in/ Each e-book is accessioned satisfying the audit requirements by using 4 letter prefix different for different publishers, say EBSP..... for Springer. This technique facilitates us to display all Springer book at one go by searching barcode in Advanced search. The main advantage of using LMS like Koha for this application is that one can search all e-books of all publishers including the OA books archived on local server. On the other hand if we depend only on publishers site, we will have to search for books on the subjects of our interest through as many servers as number of publishers, unless we license the access through Aggregators like e-brary. We have given access to full texts only through LAN of the Varsity including WiFi. But any body can reach Contents page of book of his/her choice. Full text access could be extended through remote access using interface like OCLC´s Ezproxy. Koha´s feature of displaying cover page makes this much more user friendly. All publishers are bound to make available the MARC records and the same could be part of our OPAC. Providing full text access to E-books is only a part of ERM. Koha is not a full pledged ERM System like ExLibris´s ALMA or EBSCO´s ERM. A combination of ILS and ERMS will make an ideal system to manage both Print and E-Resources including all house keeping activities and workflows. One day or the other we will have to adopt new system. But definitely KOHA is a wonderful OA-ILS system with many attractive features, which we can adopt easily by all school libraries to public libraries to university libraries, irrespective number of holdings. - - - - - - - - Dr. I.R.N. Another documentation question: suggest_status
by Nicole Engard 04 Mar '14

04 Mar '14

I just found the suggest_status authorized value and this enhancement: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=10519 I added a value to suggest_status but I don't see it on master as an option to apply to a suggestion or as a filter on the left. Can someone tell me what this authorized value is supposed to to? Is it supposed to allow you to apply different statuses to purchase suggestions? and if so, how? and also if you do how does that effect the emails that are sent out to patrons when the status changes on a suggestion? Thanks in advance, Nicole

using javascript functions with koha
by Darth_D 04 Mar '14

04 Mar '14

Hi, I have links that rely on 2 javascript functions that show/hide pop up div. Unfortunately I cam not sure where I can place them as the 'opacuserjs' only accepts javascript embedded in: $(document).ready(function(){}); Below I have posted the two functions. Do i have to create a separate javascript file and reference it or can the fuctions be editted to work in 'opacuserjs'? <script type="text/javascript"> function openpopup(id){ //Calculate Page width and height var pageWidth = window.innerWidth; var pageHeight = window.innerHeight; if (typeof pageWidth != "number"){ if (document.compatMode == "CSS1Compat"){ pageWidth = document.documentElement.clientWidth; pageHeight = document.documentElement.clientHeight; } else { pageWidth = document.body.clientWidth; pageHeight = document.body.clientHeight; } } //Make the background div tag visible... var divbg = document.getElementById('bg'); divbg.style.visibility = "visible"; var divobj = document.getElementById(id); divobj.style.visibility = "visible"; if (navigator.appName=="Microsoft Internet Explorer") computedStyle = divobj.currentStyle; else computedStyle = document.defaultView.getComputedStyle(divobj, null); //Get Div width and height from StyleSheet var divWidth = computedStyle.width.replace('px', ''); var divHeight = computedStyle.height.replace('px', ''); var divLeft = (pageWidth - divWidth) / 2; var divTop = (pageHeight - divHeight) / 2; //Set Left and top coordinates for the div tag divobj.style.left = divLeft + "px"; divobj.style.top = divTop + "px"; //Put a Close button for closing the popped up Div tag if(divobj.innerHTML.indexOf("closepopup('" + id +"')") < 0 ) divobj.innerHTML = "<a href=\"#\" onclick=\"closepopup('" + id +"')\"><span class=\"close_button\">X</span></a>" + divobj.innerHTML; } function closepopup(id){ var divbg = document.getElementById('bg'); divbg.style.visibility = "hidden"; var divobj = document.getElementById(id); divobj.style.visibility = "hidden"; } </script> Thanks

I have a question about customizing searching results. I have made a MARC field (300_6) clickable with link to download ebook. How to display this field on the searching results page? And more, how can i create a new tab on opac-detail page (near tabs HOLDING and COMMENTS) to display 300_6 field above with download link. I saw in my library OPAC detail, there is a tab "Title notices" show 521b field. Thanks all! Best regards! The opacuserjs preference accepts any kind of inline JavaScript you want to put in it. Anything which would normally be included inside <script> tags on your page. > Below I have posted the two functions. Do i have to create a separate > javascript file and reference it or can the fuctions be editted to work in > 'opacuserjs'? No, you can embed this code in opacuserjs. The vendor information has been successfully converted and uploaded to our test site. It would be a simple thing to add these vendor numbers to the serials records during the conversion process prior to upload. But, unless I'm missing something, this number doesn't go into the MARC record. If it does, what field (MARC 21)? E-resource management with Koha
by Vinod Kumar Mishra 04 Mar '14

04 Mar '14

Dear all, Now a days many big libraries are purchasing e-books in their library collections but few neither integrate it with their Library management software nor provide appropriate methods to access the same. Therefore my suggestion is such libraries may use Koha LMS which is wonderful software for automation purpose and making catalogue of such reading materials. Since, vendors/Publishers already provide the Marc/Excel record of purchased e-books so it could be directly imported into the Koha without much effort and investment. My live DVD http://sourceforge.net/projects/vkmkoha/files/ of Koha can be used for installation and i feel that it could be done by library staffs only. if you wish to do the above please feel free to contact and I ensure you to assist from remote place to make the job easy. You may also attend our workshop for the above and to learn Koha LMS: http://library.nitrkl.ac.in/images/bpcl/workshop/ Thanking You.
