Check-in issue after upgrade
by Steven Nickerson 25 Feb '14

25 Feb '14

Hi everyone, I've already solved this issue for myself and thought I'd post in case anyone else sees a similar issue. I recently upgraded an environment from 3.02.02 to 3.14.03 and after the apparently successful upgrade we were unable to check-in any overdue items. When we tried to check-in via the Circulation>Check-in interface we would receive: No branchcode argument passed to Koha::Calendar->new at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Overdues.pm line 299 For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. And in order to resolve it, since we don't charge fines anyway, I disabled the "CalculateFinesOnReturn" preference setting at Administration>Global System Preferences>Circulation and now receive no error. My guess is that it had something to do with the 'default' fine rules I had set previously, but again since we don't do fines anyway I was OK with just turning them off. Hope this helps someone else. Steve

grouping of libraries and able to search it
by schnydszch 24 Feb '14

24 Feb '14

Hello Koha users and developers! Is it possible with newer Koha versions, to group many libraries into one (e.g. many libraries into one region, say 'North American libraries', and another region 'Asian libraries') and be able to search through this groupings? Probably, this could be done through jquery, if it is not yet available? Re: [Koha] Setting up a new branch
by Fischer, Katrin 24 Feb '14

Hi Ann, maybe take a look at Administration > Library Transfer Limits and prevent holds between libraries using the ‘Default holds policy by item type’ settings at the bottom of the circulation conditions page. I am not sure if you can prevent people from overriding. Hope this helps, Katrin From: library [mailto:library@katikaticollege.school.nz] Sent: Sunday, February 23, 2014 11:34 PM To: Fischer, Katrin Subject: Re: [Koha] Setting up a new branch Thank you so much for your help. Can you tell me if it is possible to stop the staff from one branch from issuing and returning items that belong to another branch. I have tried to set circulation and fines rules but it doesn't stop the issuing/returning, it only requires an override. Best wishes Ann Murphy On Sat, Feb 22, 2014 at 12:31 AM, Fischer, Katrin <Katrin.Fischer(a)bsz-bw.de> wrote: Hi Ann, every patron can only have one home library at the moment, but you can configure Koha, so they issue/return items at other branches as well. If you can't see the patrons from the other branch when logged in at the new branch, this might be because the system preference IndependentBranches is turned on in your installation. xslt and how not to show field if there are no data
by schnydszch 24 Feb '14

24 Feb '14

hi all! I'm trying to modify my koha's xslt. I have the following: <xsl:if test="marc:datafield[@tag=597]"> Musical director: <xsl:for-each select="marc:datafield[@tag=597]"> <xsl:call-template name="chopPunctuation"> <xsl:with-param name="chopString"> <xsl:call-template name="subfieldSelect"> <xsl:with-param name="codes">a</xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> <xsl:choose><xsl:when test="position()=last()"><xsl:text></xsl:text></xsl:when><xsl:otherwise><xsl:text>; </xsl:text></xsl:otherwise></xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:if> <xsl:if test="marc:datafield[@tag=597]"> Musical director's Write up: <xsl:for-each select="marc:datafield[@tag=597]"> <xsl:call-template name="chopPunctuation"> <xsl:with-param name="chopString"> <xsl:call-template name="subfieldSelect"> <xsl:with-param name="codes">b</xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> <xsl:choose><xsl:when test="position()=last()"><xsl:text></xsl:text></xsl:when><xsl:otherwise><xsl:text>; </xsl:text></xsl:otherwise></xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:if> <xsl:if test="marc:datafield[@tag=597]"> Musical director's Date of birth: <xsl:for-each select="marc:datafield[@tag=597]"> <xsl:call-template name="chopPunctuation"> <xsl:with-param name="chopString"> <xsl:call-template name="subfieldSelect"> <xsl:with-param name="codes">c</xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:with-param> </xsl:call-template> <xsl:choose><xsl:when test="position()=last()"><xsl:text></xsl:text></xsl:when><xsl:otherwise><xsl:text>; </xsl:text></xsl:otherwise></xsl:choose> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:if> What I actually want my Koha to show is if there are no data in the example 597$b, the string Musical director's write up should not show. but I'm still seeing the field with no data, especially if one of the subfileds have data on it. So, how do I make Koha to not show MARC field-subfields with blank data. Thanks in advance and cheers! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/xslt-and-how-not-to-show-field-if-there-a… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

What is the difference / similaritiy between libraries and branches
by Josef Kreitmayer 23 Feb '14

23 Feb '14

Hello there, my name is Josef, we are currently about to implement our first 1600 books for the Future Library Vienna (Austria) in our Koha setup. Many thanks to Nicole Engard here, most of what I know about Koha I learned from her ByWater Solutions Koha Introduction Videos. I tried to reserach my following topic, but could not find any answer that gives clarity to my question. We are setting up a library that has a main library and some branches. The circulation is mainly closed within the branches, but books can also be returned at other branches. We also have temporary branches. Our big question for the Data-Implementation is: How / where do we best assign the items? One Library, several branches? Is Branch synonymous with Library? How do we best do for easy (mostly voluntary) administration and good overview? There is some posts in the list already touching the topic of libraries and branches, but I do not really get clarity by them. Sometimes both terms are used synonymous, sometimes they seem distincted. ___ Libraries and Branches | what is the difference, what is the similarity, what does it mean administrationwise? thank you heaps, josef *Mag.
