Yet another request of changing password and few small others.
Hi all, I work for a small company and I was asked to take care of some administrative tasks in Koha. I have to admit that I'm pretty new to Koha and I have some questions. I inherited the installation and the mysql database from the previous person who administered the DB. The authentication is against the AD and as to itself it works fine although we get an error on the fact that for Koha is not possible to add new members "AddMember failed at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap_pm" at line 169 I can access the mysql db without any problem and in the DB I see there are 2 users, (who left the company) with, I guess, the hash of their passwords since I don't think passwords are stored in clear. Now we have new books to add but basically no valid user to access the DB. Here my questions: 1) if the authentication fails against the Active Directory, is the fallback to local DB automatic or do I have to conigure somewhere? 2) how can I reset the password of any of those two users in the mysql DB? I don't have access to the Koha web interface; 3) is there a way to administer local users via the mysql interface? Would be good to add a new user while troubleshooting why the add of AD users doesn't work sowe can dd new books into the system. 4) how I can add a Koha administrator account via the mysql interface? I have to admit that I'm bit in a hurry and I tried to through the manual but I felt a bit lost in gathering the right information to solve my problems I wrote above. If someone could help me in recovering this situation or pointing me in the right direction to recover it that will be much appreciated. Thanks, Alex

Just to answer this because I'm about to leave: you can log in to the admin interface using the mysql username and password. This should allow you to create and modify real users. Don't use this account for doing anything other than administration though, it'll probably cause problems. -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5FA7 4B49 1E4D CAA4 4C38 8505 77F5 B724 F871 3BDF
Thanks Robin for your very fast reply, indeed I can login with such username. However it seems that such user i's treated like a normal user because I don't see any admin interface where to add users/patron and other admin tasks. But I moved a bit forward and I'll see what I can do. Alex 2014-03-11 7:15 GMT+01:00 Robin Sheat <robin@catalyst.net.nz>:

Hi Alex, You are logging in to the staff client, not to the OPAC? Having logged in, you should see a menu in two columns: Patrons is the second option in the left hand column, Administration is the fourth option in the right hand column. Is that what you are seeing? Bob Calyx On 11/03/14 17:32, alessandro macuz wrote:

Hi Bob, when I login with such username and password I land on /cgi-bin/koha/ opac-user.pl I then typed manually the URL /cgi-bin/koha/mainpage.pl but I get the HTTP error 404. It's weird, I'll check why it doesn't find that page. Thanks, Alex 2014-03-11 7:56 GMT+01:00 Bob Birchall <bob@calyx.net.au>:

Yep, you are accessing the OPAC: that is the public interface through which users access the catalogue. What you need to find is the staff client. Sometimes it gets put at yourdomain:8080 , otherwise check you apache sites-enabled. I hope you find it. Bob Calyx On 11/03/14 18:39, alessandro macuz wrote:

Good, I managed to get control on my Koha :-) Thanks a lot to all :-) I still have the issue of Koha not correctly updating the DB when a new user from AD is successfully authenticated but now I have less pressure and I can investigate on it. Thanks again, Alex 2014-03-11 8:46 GMT+01:00 Bob Birchall <bob@calyx.net.au>:
