Data conversion from Destiny
by Bob Birchall 06 Mar '14

06 Mar '14

We're converting data from a Follett Destiny system. In the 852 tag is a $x field that begins 'FSC' and is divided into sub-fields using @ as the separator. The '@b' sub-field contains a code of one or two digits e.g. 2, 22. Does anyone know what this code might represent? Bob Birchall Calyx

If any user renews an issued item before due date koha shows due date calculated on the basis of the 1st issue date not on the basis of renewal date. What is the solution? Joydeep Chanda Bengal Library Association

Next general IRC meeting
by Galen Charlton 05 Mar '14

05 Mar '14

Hi, The next general meeting is scheduled for 9 April 2014. As an experiment, we've agreed to hold it in two parts, the first at 15:00 UTC and the second at 21:00 UTC. The purpose of the experiment is to try to attain broader participation in the general meeting, which in practice has not been achieved by the practice of rotating the meeting time on a strict schedule. One overall agenda would apply to both parts of the meeting, although I would anticipate that discussion during the first part may influence the agenda of the second part. Folks who give regular updates (e.g., the release maintainers and the KohaCon organizers) can choose to attend both parts or just one part, though it may be advisable to prepare a brief written update beforehand. I personally plan to attend both parts. One issue, of course, will be making decisions. If an issue to vote on is known in advance of the meeting, we could consider experimenting with a decision process (e.g., as MJ Ray had suggested, Crowd Wise) during the two parts of the meeting. Otherwise, I think we'll need to plan on following up with a vote via email in cases where it is not clear that participants in both parts of the meeting have achieved the same consensus. Overdue notices and Koha 3.14.3
by Steven Nickerson 05 Mar '14

05 Mar '14

Hello again everyone, After a recent upgrade from 3.02.02 to 3.14.03 (package install on Debian) I didn't realize it but the email functions (overdues, holds, etc). were turned off. When I re-enabled email today with "koha-enable-email" messages started flowing again, but the overdue notices seem to have the following line of text ABOVE the "Dear <Firstname> <Lastname>" in the actual emails. title;name;surname;address1;address2;zipcode;city;country;email;itemcount;it emsinfo;due_date;issue_date Anyone else experiencing this or have any ideas where it might be coming from? Thanks in advance! Steve

Vendor number in serials records
by Elaine Bradtke 05 Mar '14

05 Mar '14

We have over 200 active serial subscriptions, and 195 different vendors (ah, the joys of an esoteric collection). The vendor information has been successfully converted and uploaded to our test site. This in turn generated vendor numbers, which have been extracted so we know which serial should link to what vendor number. It would be a simple thing to add these vendor numbers to the serials records during the conversion process prior to upload. But, unless I'm missing something, this number doesn't go into the MARC record. If it does, what field (MARC 21)? Where would the vendor number need to go in order to add the vendor number to the incoming serials records? Another table in the database? I hope this is doable, otherwise my colleague who deals with the serials is going to have a tedious job manually linking them. -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England.
