Still working on sorting problem
by Doug Dearden 11 Mar '14

Hello all, I am still working on this sorting problem, and have looked a bit deeper into it. I find the sorting routine in /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/ClassSortRoutine.pm , and it looks to me like it is driven by the variables $sort_routine, $cn_class and $cn_item . This took me back to the system preferences, where I turned on the Classification source "z Other/Generic Classification Scheme" and turned off all others. I then went to Koha to MARC mapping - biblioitems and set cn_class to point to 099a - which removed the mapping from items - itemcallnumber. I am suspicious that my problem may be that these records do not have a cn_source field, though my reading of ClassSortRoutine makes me think it would fall back to a default routine that should work. Or is there a perl program that needs to be run to update the records with the new system preferences? My previous question is pasted below. Any help is appreciated. I have a database that has no item records, only biblios. We are using it to catalog some archival folders, and pointing to pdfs with scanned images using the 856u field. We are using the 099a field as the call number field. In Administration - System Preferences - Cataloging - Record Structure - itemcallnumber we have 099a filled in. I just changed the Koha to MARC mapping so that items - itemcallnumber maps to 099a . After doing a search the results page is sorted in Relevance order. Changing the sort order to Call Number order, either Z-A or A-Z does not produce any change. Changing the sort order to Title or Author works. How do I get the sort working using the Call Number in the 099a field? Thanks, Doug Dearden Director, IT School for Advanced Research (505)954-7220 sarweb.org

Docbook to HTML/PDF Question
by Nicole Engard 11 Mar '14

11 Mar '14

Hi all, I'm not sure who manages the Docbook to HTML script (I do know that Bernardo does the PDF one) but I'd love to see the 'authors' broken down by role. For example: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.12/en/oclcappendix.html The sectioninfo is: 45887 <sectioninfo> 45888 <author> 45889 <firstname>D. Ruth</firstname> 45890 45891 <surname>Bavousett</surname> 45892 </author> 45893 45894 <affiliation> 45895 <orgname>ByWater Solutions.com</orgname> 45896 </affiliation> 45897 45898 <othercredit role="copyeditor"> 45899 <firstname>Nicole C.</firstname> 45900 45901 <surname>Engard</surname> 45902 45903 <contrib>Changed content where necessary.</contrib> 45904 </othercredit> 45905 45906 <pubdate>2012</pubdate> 45907 </sectioninfo> It'd be nice if the 'copyeditor' or 'other credit' info shows so that it was clear who was the author and who was the editor in some of these chapters/appendices. Anyone up for the challenge? Thanks Nicole

Help with report on percentage of Circ
by Nicole Engard 11 Mar '14

11 Mar '14

I got this request today and I have to admit it's a bit over my head in terms of the math involved. Can someone help me with this report? ------------- May we have a report that will give us the total circulation for a specific time frame and what percentage was attributed to a specific JUR Code? I ran this report and for example it gave me 128% as the percentage of total circ for JUR Code M814. SELECT x.attribute as 'Attribute', x.issues as 'Circ for this attribute', (x.issues * 100)/( SELECT COUNT(s.datetime) as 'total' FROM statistics s WHERE type = 'issue' AND s.datetime BETWEEN <<Date BETWEEN (yyyy-mm-dd)>> AND <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)>> ) as 'Percentage of total circ' FROM (SELECT ba.attribute as 'attribute', COUNT(s.datetime) as 'issues' FROM statistics s JOIN borrower_attributes ba ON s.borrowernumber = ba.borrowernumber WHERE ba.code = 'JUR' AND s.datetime BETWEEN <<Enter the same dates again BETWEEN (yyyy-mm-dd)>> AND <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)>> GROUP BY attribute) x

Re: [Koha] How to print checked out items and news from the quick
by BRANNON, CHRISTOPHER 11 Mar '14

Tim, If you can figure something out, let me know. We've found the same issue, and it does not look like you can bring all the information from the regular slip over to the quick slip. It would be nice if we had a choice as to which slip is printed with the enter key. ___________________________ Christopher Brannon IT Coordinator Coeur d'Alene Public Library 702 E Front Ave Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814 (208)769-2315 Ext. 456 cbrannon(a)cdalibrary.org www.cdalibrary.org ------------------------------ Message: 6 Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2013 14:33:24 -0800 (PST) From: magmatic <magmatic(a)timkoop.com> To: koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz Subject: [Koha] How to print checked out items and news from the quick slip Message-ID: <1386887604069-5780915.post(a)n5.nabble.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii I like that you can print news items and checked out items from the Print Slip feature. But I would like to print these things with a Quick Slip, the thing that gets printed when you just press Enter. I tried copying over the message body in Tools -> Notices & Slips, but it doesn't seem to work. It's as if the Quick Slip can't print news items and checked out items. Any ideas? Thanks. -- Tim

"Unlocking" the 100$a cataloging-field
by le-grex 11 Mar '14

11 Mar '14

Me again, hello, i try to add a own framework for our needs here, since almost nobody knows about the MARC Things and so on and i want to make it easier for them. But the 100$a authors field is locked, i can't fill something in. So i went to Administration, System Parameters, and changed BiblioAddsAuthorities to "should". But it is still locked. Is there a second location, where i need to change something? Thank you again. grex

Yet another request of changing password and few small others.
by alessandro macuz 11 Mar '14

11 Mar '14

Hi all, I work for a small company and I was asked to take care of some administrative tasks in Koha. I have to admit that I'm pretty new to Koha and I have some questions. I inherited the installation and the mysql database from the previous person who administered the DB. The authentication is against the AD and as to itself it works fine although we get an error on the fact that for Koha is not possible to add new members "AddMember failed at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap_pm" at line 169 I can access the mysql db without any problem and in the DB I see there are 2 users, (who left the company) with, I guess, the hash of their passwords since I don't think passwords are stored in clear. Now we have new books to add but basically no valid user to access the DB. Here my questions: 1) if the authentication fails against the Active Directory, is the fallback to local DB automatic or do I have to conigure somewhere? 2) how can I reset the password of any of those two users in the mysql DB? I don't have access to the Koha web interface; 3) is there a way to administer local users via the mysql interface? Would be good to add a new user while troubleshooting why the add of AD users doesn't work sowe can dd new books into the system. 4) how I can add a Koha administrator account via the mysql interface? I have to admit that I'm bit in a hurry and I tried to through the manual but I felt a bit lost in gathering the right information to solve my problems I wrote above. If someone could help me in recovering this situation or pointing me in the right direction to recover it that will be much appreciated. Thanks, Alex

Catalog Search Slow
by Joel Sasse 10 Mar '14

10 Mar '14

Hello Community, Has anyone else noticed that catalog searches are slower after the 3.12.10 security update a few weeks ago? Other Koha functions are operating normally but catalog searches can be really slow at times when compared with performance before the upgrade.
