I still think shifting it to the wiki is fine. Shift to the wiki, just like the list of libraries. Then it can still be of use for the vast majority of the active community, and if one subsection want to play silly games with their area, it doesn't impact the rest. But whatever we do can we please stop polluting this list with mail about it. This will be my last email on the topic. The only easy to maintain list that can't be misunderstood by anyone in any culture is no list. Additional bonus: no legal liabilities. Proposal to remove the 'Paid support' list
by Tomas Cohen Arazi 01 Jul '15

01 Jul '15

The subject is self-explanatory. But I'll try to explain my position a bit further. The project doesn't have a partner program, so being listed there only means you are listed. What is the benefit for people listed? I would say marketing and/or some SEO advantage (Liz told me there are counter measures applied so it is not used for SEO). Some places, notably India and others, expect some kind of official certification for service providers, and people are referring to being listed on the site as a way to certify their validation as service providers. I think this hurts the project, because people tend to trust some quality degree is assured if companies are listed, which we cannot certify; and also makes community members spend a lot of time reviewing people's sites, with try/error iterations very often [1]. I propose we replace the current listing with (a) nothing or (b) some pie diagram with companies/institutions contributions (git log, or what best addresses the need) to the project. I would vote (a). If there is some consensus that contributing companies/institutions should have some public recognition by the community, then we can do (b). How companies position themselves on the market is not something the community needs to address, but the company's challenge. [2] Kind regards Tomas [1] I'm pretty sure we can write a script that generates different valid sites that should be accepted for the list, so I find depressing that people doesn't even do the effort to comply with the simple rules we have put. [2] Unless we start an official partner program, but I'm sure we are still far from that. If you want to actually be part of the Koha community and be recognized, do something for the project, write a valuable article for the newsletter, contribute an enhancement, actively report and/or fix bugs, organize Koha promoting events: Get involved. -- Tomás Cohen Arazi Theke Solutions ✆ +54 9351 3513384 GPG: B76C 6E7C 2D80 551A C765 E225 0A27 2EA1 B2F3 C15F

Organize National Seminar on Koha In India 'IndKoha'
by Bengal Library Association 01 Jul '15

01 Jul '15

Dear all, You may know that the Bengal Library Association was established in West Bengal, India in 1925 under the presidentship of nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore to promote library movement in the country. Since its establishment it has been engaged to develop libraries in the state as well as country. Since 1990's, the Association has been engaged to modernize the libraries in the state, regularly organize workshops as well as training program on CDS/ISIS, WINISIS, etc. From 2011, Govt. of West Bengal and Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation gave aid to the Association for training of library personnels in West Bengal on Koha and later the Association modernized 170 town libraries in West Bengal by means of Koha. Presently the name of the Association has been listed as a Paid Support Provider of Koha in your list. Now there is a trend in India to use Koha. It is a good for our country. But as India is a vast and multi-lingual country, different persons, users, institutions are facing many problems, using Koha differently. It is noble task to get together these Koha users, Koha people so that they can exchange their views, ideas for the betterment of future Koha. For this purpose it is our effort to organize a National Seminar on Koha. We are trying to organize a National Seminar on Koha on last week of January, 2016 in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. We will be very happy if the name of the Seminar is 'IndKoha'. Kindly cooperate to organize the Seminar under the name 'IndKoha'. Swapping Addresses
by Bob Ewart 01 Jul '15

In south Florida we have a lot of snowbirds who spend the winter here and the summer up north. Is there an easy way to swap the main and alternate addresses? One of the church membership programs I used some time ago actually let you schedule the swap for each member. -- Bob Ewart Stonewall National Museum & Archives Fort Lauderdale, FL

Ummm... some of us have production cycles of two (maybe three) years (exceptions made for security) and only follow the minor/major releases on a sandbox to keep up with enhancements for the next production upgrade. Duplicate check in Koha at the time of ordering
by vinod mishra 30 Jun '15

30 Jun '15

Please clarify, If there are thousands of books a library is going to place order in bulk how following works can be done through Koha? 1. How duplicate check can be done at the time of entering data by many staffs simultaneously i.e. suppose a staff entered a books in a order and same book is now entered by another staff than is it possible to check duplicate that it has been entered? it may be in a case where many are placing written request to library for purchasing books. 2. Is it possible to enter/choose the requester name at the time of feeding book data so that he can get the alerts as well as reports should also include the requester name while ordering? adding name may be possible in 3.20 i think but many names can be selected not only one (requester) -- *With Regards,Vinod Kumar Mishra,Assistant Librarian,Biju Patnaik Central Library (BPCL),* *NIT Rourkela,* *Sundergadh-769008,* *Odisha,* *India.* *Mob:91+9439420860* *Website: http://mishravk.com/ <http://mishravk.com/>*
