Re: [Koha] Paying fines through SIP

We do have it connected with SIP and it works, but only as a lump sum "Fine" payment. It doesn't let you track lost items or itemized transactions. Jason Burds I.T. Hi Everybody: I am interested in downloading Koha in order to automate our church library, but got lost on the requirements page. Do I need Linux and all the other bulleted items, or can I choose one? How easy is it going to be for a non-programmer to set it up and get it running? Am I totally in the wrong group? Can I clean up imported ISBN's --> for book cover displays
by Scott Owen 26 Jun '15

26 Jun '15

Hi all, I recently imported a collection into Koha, and am only now realizing that quite a few of the ISBN numbers are formatted incorrectly, and/or have unsupported characters in the field. It's not a big deal as long as I use Google books for my covers, Google seems smart enough to search and parse the ISBN field.....the problem is, when I try to implement something like the page found here: http://www.myacpl.org/koha/acpls-new-and-upcoming-opac-list/ <http://www.myacpl.org/koha/acpls-new-and-upcoming-opac-list/> My covers come up short... I seem to be missing quite a few. I am just pulling the ISBN number and linking to Amazon and/or Open Library covers. Examination of these links leads me to believe that I have quite a few messed up ISBN numbers...... Any type of ISBN checker and or repair tool that I could run ?? Or has that ship already sailed ... and I should have fixed them before the import (with MarcEdit or some other tool). Anyone have a handy-dandy SQL command to clean them up ?? Thanks, -S

KOHA info for June newsletter
by Janet Mente 26 Jun '15

The URBS consortium, a network for the humanities comprised of 7 Rome-based libraries with a patrimony of c. 350,000 bibliographic records, 8,000 periodicals and 45,000 authority records, has migrated its Marc21 holdings from Millennium to KOHA with the aid of the Italian company "Cineca". Besides the standard keyword search features, this installation also uses a browse search function. As the contents of the consortium are multilingual and there was difficulty for KOHA to recognize the articles from the various languages, the second indicator of the 245 field was used to correctly alphabetize the title results. A Z39.50 protocol was also use in this KOHA installation to interrogate other libraries. Furthermore the URBS KOHA installation has a seamless interface with ESSE3, a portal used by Italian universities for data concerning their staff and students and their academic careers ; thus the KOHA libraries can manage lending, fines, etc., by dialoguing with the university's ESSE3. The URBS KOHA installation, now in the final testing phase, will go live in July. -- §§§§ Janet L. how to setup "hold filled" email notification?
by justin fang 26 Jun '15

26 Jun '15

Hi All, I am trying to setup "hold filled" email notification. I found that I have to enable "Enhancedmessagingpreferences" first. After it is enabled, I will able to enable "hold filled"in "Patron categories". BUT I have to enable it again for EVERY patron in his "details" page. Is it correct behavior? Can I enable "hold filled" notification in one click for all patrons? Thanks, Justin
