Koha 3.20.1 slight delay
by Chris Cormack 23 Jun '15

23 Jun '15

As you, we do time based releases so 3.20.1 is due now. However there are a couple of important patches waiting qa that I want to push before the release. So I'm hoping they will get sorted very shortly and I will release as soon as they are. Chris

Sorting of LISTS
by Steven Nickerson 22 Jun '15

22 Jun '15

I think this is a bug but I wanted to know if anyone could think of a way around it. In a List, book titles starting with the articles "A", "An" and "The" appear to be sorted improperly and appear in order WITH the article included instead of "skipping" the article and sorting by the second word in the title. Can anyone think of an "easy" way to get Koha to skip the articles in titles in Lists? Titles seem to sort as expected in search results and other places. I see this issue in the package version of 3.18.06, 3.18.03, and 3.16.02. Thanks! Steve

by Abdullah Al-Modabber 22 Jun '15

Dear Colleagues We have started to build our Campus Solution through a third party. On this regard we need to integrate Koha with the University Management System. The company who are working on this system is seeking for vendor, who can provide services to develop Koha interfaces, i.e. library late fee etc. We prefer the vendors location in Delhi, India. I would like to request you to send me any suggestion or any contact details who can do such job. Search in intranet with non-ASCII-characters
by Beda Szukics 22 Jun '15

22 Jun '15

Hi all Since I upgraded to 3.20 I have a very strange search problem. In the intranet interface searches with a non-ASCII-character show no results. In the opac interface the results are there. For example: "Schärer" results in an error: No results match your search for 'kw,wrdl: Schrer' in ... "Scherer" shows some results (in my case 236 items). In /var/log/koha/kb/intranet-error.log I see: [Sat Jun 20 20:34:43.521663 2015] [cgi:error] [pid 20806] [client 192.168.1.52:57404] AH01215: [Sat Jun 20 20:34:43 2015] search.pl: CGI::param called in list context from package main line 421, this can lead to vulnerabilities. See the warning in "Fetching the value or values of a single named parameter" at /usr/share/perl5/CGI.pm line 436., referer: http://bibliotheksverwaltung.kollegi/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=Sch… However there is also an entry for "Scherer": [Sat Jun 20 20:37:13.234366 2015] [cgi:error] [pid 20899] [client 192.168.1.52:59580] AH01215: [Sat Jun 20 20:37:13 2015] search.pl: CGI::param called in list context from package main line 421, this can lead to vulnerabilities. See the warning in "Fetching the value or values of a single named parameter" at /usr/share/perl5/CGI.pm line 436., referer: http://bibliotheksverwaltung.kollegi/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=Sch… What's wrong? Any suggestions? Beda

OPAC - materials specified (MARC21 952$3)
by Paul A 21 Jun '15

21 Jun '15

I'm wondering if many libraries use "materials specified" (MARC21 952$3)? We do, particularly for serials, but the data is only available to staff and does not appear in the OPAC. So I have modified our OPAC display to add the extra column (see e.g. <http://opac.navalmarinearchive.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber…>) -- if there is no 952$3 data, the column does not get displayed. If there is any interest, I could file this as a "bug/enhancement." Best -- Paul

Sharing patrons across libraries in Koha
by R A 20 Jun '15

20 Jun '15

Hi, In our institution we have a few libraries in different locations. All the patrons are affiliated with the institution, not with a specific library. What are your suggestions on how to organize them in Koha? It seems that Koha requires them to always be affiliated with a specific library - doesn't allow to associate them with multiple libraries at the same time and it also doesn't allow to associate them with a defined group of libraries ... Ideas please? Thanks. R

Suppression of books from the OPAC view
by Jennifer Schmidt 19 Jun '15

19 Jun '15

Dear Admire, To suppress titles from public viewing in the OPAC, go into the Edit mode of the Biblio. Put a value of "1" in the 942$n. The withdraw code is 952$0 and it should have a '1'. We have set up our item-level suppression to be one of the CCODES. I'm not sure what other libraries do but that's is our set up. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions. We just went live but I will try and answer any questions you might have. ------------------------------------ Jennifer Schmidt SWITCH Library Consortium 3401 South 39th Street Milwaukee, WI 53234 http://caspian.switchinc.org/ http://topcat.switchinc.org/ 414-382-6710 jschmidt(a)switchinc.org ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Thu, 18 Jun 2015 08:09:26 +0200 From: "Admire Mutsikiwa" <amutsikiwa(a)uzlib.uz.ac.zw> To: <koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz> Cc: 'Lindiwe Mpindiwa' <LMpindiwa(a)zimra.co.zw> Subject: [Koha] Suppression of Books from OPAC search Message-ID: <02e901d0a98d$54226ed0$fc674c70$(a)uzlib.uz.ac.zw> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Hi There are some books in my library that we would like to remove from our Library to some other location. More like donating the books. I would like to supress the books from OPAC searches and annotate the item records as withdrawn from the system. How do I go about doing it. marc VS marcxml field in koha's biblioitems table
by Andreas Roussos 19 Jun '15

19 Jun '15

Hi there, We use koha 3.02.02.00, and I've recently had to make a number of corrections to our records using SQL statements that basically did a search & replace in the 'marcxml' field of the 'biblioitems' table. An example of such a query is as follows: UPDATE biblioitems SET marcxml = REPLACE( marcxml, '<datafield tag="610" ind1="0" ind2=" ">\n <subfield code="a">Text A</subfield>', '<datafield tag="610" ind1="0" ind2=" ">\n <subfield code="a">Text B</subfield>' ) ; This worked as expected and I can see the changes I've made when browsing through book records in koha's OPAC. My question is: do I also need to edit the contents of the 'marc' field? According to the man page of C4::Biblio ( http://perldoc.koha-community.org/C4/Biblio.html) "In the 3.0 version of Koha, the authoritative record-level information is in biblioitems.marcxml". So, it looks like I should be OK with editing the marcxml data only, but wanted to double-check with someone from this mailing list who knows more about koha than I do. Thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards, Andreas
