Thank you Owen, I had koha-common and everything from http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages but I have just .tt pages in the templates directory. I'm new to Koha. May be there is something missing. What does

sudo apt-cache policy koha-common tell you? Have you done the web part of the installation at all or have you never seen anything at the staff client address?
