Removing Boolean searching from OPAC.

Has anyone edited server files to change the way OPAC searches work, to remove the default use of Boolean? We are on 3.20 and in the quick search box Boolean operators are recognised, and in the case of AND are assumed between individual words. For example, a search of our OPAC at https://libsearch.arts.ac.uk for (leaving the asterisk delimiters out): *** On not knowing how artists think Elizabeth Fisher *** produced almost 70,000 as we are actually search on only the first word (On, with the six words after NOT being thrown away). Apparently, to disable Boolean searching we need to add double quotes round the search, to treat each word as an individual keyword. We don't see the use of quotes as ideal, and certainly not intuitive. One of the conference attendees I met at KohaCon 2016 in Thessaloniki last week suggested this Boolean default option should be removable, but he did urge caution as the change might not be the easiest to make, and would need a good understanding of how the search functionality operates. Has anyone already done this Boolean-removal, and can share with us how the work was done so we can have our support company consider making the change? Thanks. Unable to start both Apache, KOHA OPAC and Admin interface

Dear Members, I had installed Koha on Ubuntu 12.04 using Live CD prepared by Dr. A. R. D Prasad and Dr. Sunita Barve (from India). Everything is running fine for almost 2 years. After recent package updation, I found that, I am unable to start Apache and thus both KOHA OPAC and Admin interace are also not starting. Kindly help in this regard. -- Mr. Mahesh M. Hi David, All, Just wanted to say that someone I met at KohaCon'16 suggested an upgrade to version 3.22. I have just done that in a test VM and the problem is gone, i.e. searching for "χ.ό." now works. Debian packages for 16.05.00

Hi, The Debian package for Koha 16.05.00 is now available in the Koha Apt repository debian.koha-community.org. The 16.05.x package occupies the 'stable' slot. To install Koha, you would set your Apt source to: deb http://debian.koha-community.org/koha stable main Note that if you were running 3.22.x from packages (or any earlier release series), an "apt-get upgrade" will NOT suffice to upgrade to 16.05. Instead, you should do an "apt-get install koha-common". The koha-common package does not implement support for Elasticsearch directly; instead, it will be necessary to install a new koha-elasticsearch package that will install the necessary dependencies. ISBN search results

I just ran the "List of all normalized ISBNs" report found at <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SQL_Reports_Library#List_of_all_normal…>. I then took the results of this report to search for the titles to which the ISBNs belong. When I search for the ISBNs using the ISBN filter on the the staff interface of Koha as well as the OPAC interface, Koha could not find most of the ISBNs; however, when I run a keyword search for the ISBNs, I find many more of them. Why? My current theory is that the ISBN filter search cannot reconcile the normalized ISBN which the "List of all normalized ISBNs" report produces. My theory is more of a "facts which support the theory" kind of theory, so I could be completely off on it. Your thoughts?
