We've upgraded all our workstations (and are very happy), and are currently rebuilding all our servers (14.04 ==> 16.04), so far happily... by SATISH 30 Jun '16

Hi, I have installed Koha 3.12.00 on Ubuntu Server 12.04 by packages method, having 1000+ records. Now, I am planning for Ubuntu OS upgrade from 12.04 to 14.04. Even though, It is not a Koha related query, my intention is, existing Koha should not get damaged, therefore, I would like to know, regarding OS upgradation (Not Koha Upadation) 1) What are the precautions one should take, apart from taking MySQL DB backup ? 2) Does OS upgrade affect the existing Koha, Installed on System? 3) And any other related advice ..for OS Upgradation or best practices? since, I never did an OS upgrade, your feedback is really help me to proceed further! Re: [Koha] Specific Dimensions for Avery 5428 Self-Adhesive

I don't have an easy answer for you either, but I didn't find it very hard to configure the Spine Labels. I use Demco labels. I'd be happy to send you a screen print of my config file if it is a help in getting you going. I found the Spine Label tool very flexible and we were able to customize the label for our own needs quite easily. We are a philatelic library, in other words we hold books about stamp collecting. We mostly follow the Library of Congress in their rules. On the Spine Label we have four lines of data: 1. The Country Code 2. The Topical Cutter 3. The Author Cutter 4. The Barcode Number. As each book is setup in the Catalog we apply a label with the Barcode Number on the inside cover. Then when we print a sheet of Spine Labels we can compare the barcode on the inside cover with the barcode on the Spine Label to make sure that we get it correct. Regards, Tim Auld Minnesota

Does anyone else use this product when creating spine labels? Is there a way to upload the template into the creator? I thought I'd reach out to the community before getting out my ruler. Thanks! Katie Cunningham Conway Public Library Conway, NH USA

Need help to open a staff patron
by Mahmudul Hasan 29 Jun '16

29 Jun '16

Dear All I am new here. So, I have read the manual and seen nothing to solve this problem. According to manuual whenever i am going to add a new patron. It can not. At the first time when i was logged in following warning message shows and that is "You are logged in as the database administrative user. This is not recommended because some parts of Koha will not function as expected when using this account. Please log in instead with a regular staff account. To create a staff account, create a library, a patron category 'Staff' and add a new patron. Then give this patron permissions from 'More' in the toolbar." According to the message i went to the top of the site to set library from there i chose the canterville. After that i clicked on create patron>new patron and from drop down menu choose staff. There a message came that is "can not add patron. please add a patron category." So i clicked on the patron category. There i add a new patron category named College Staff. Again i continued but again this message comes. At last i went to tools>patron list> new patron> create a new patron list> Give name "Staff">save and following message comes. Software error: Can't call method "patron_list_id" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/patron_lists/add-modify.pl line 55. For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. How can i fix it? I have no idea. Please help me. Even i can not open the list. There also show same type message. By the way I have installed on the following Koha version-16.05.00.000 server platform- ubuntu 16.04 LTS amd64 method of installation-marc21 Thanks in advance. Regards Mahmud

Hi Mark, cat /var/log/koha/{instance name}/zebra-error.log shows; 20160625 17:29:34 gechlibrary-koha-zebra: client (pid 4329) killed by signal 15, stopping koha-start-zebra {instance name} shows; Zebra already running for instance gechlibrary. I am still not getting search results in opac/staff client eventhough I have 1000+ records. Previously, Koha 3.16 was installed from packages method on ubuntu 12.4 LTS Desktop and was working very fine and problem started after uprade to 16.5.00.000. I am not sure, how to proceed further, and community's help is requested. -satish On Sun, Jun 26, 2016 at 9:22 PM, Mark Tompsett <mtompset(a)hotmail.com> wrote: > Greetings, > > Could you please post to the list the results of: > cat /var/log/koha/{instance name}/zebra-error.log > > My guess is it will be something like: > YYYYMMDD 07:35:XX {instance name}-koha-zebra: client (pid #####) killed by > signal 15, stopping > > If so: > $ sudo koha-start-zebra {instance name} > > Will temporarily fix it, until the zebra dies again.
