OT: Makerspaces and soldering

Please excuse the off-topic posting: This is a question for libraries with Makerspaces and/or offering programs involving soldering: * Insurance and liability? What do you do? * Do they fill out forms to participate? The libraries I've seen that offer soldering report that, once told that the iron is "very hot", "Do Not Touch" ...self-preservation and aversion to pain kick in and virtually eliminate accidents. But I thought I'd ask anyway. We are doing an Arduino project at the end of the month and I'm debating whether or not to pull out the soldering kits or stick to breadboards. Handling student worker accounts

Hi all, First of all, we are right now starting to migrate to Koha so I'm probably going to ask a lot of questions on this list in the coming weeks. Bear with me. If you have low-level employees who perform basic circulation work—e.g. work study students, volunteers—how do you handle their account permissions? Do you have a shared internal account with a password you periodically change? Do you edit their patron account to add necessary permissions and then later revoke them? We're trying to find a scalable way to handle this. Editing a half-dozen or so patron accounts each semester doesn't seem wise to me. But internal accounts like this are weird too, because they're not "real" patrons. For instance, I'm filling in fake barcodes because they're required but this patron will never check anything out. Also, are is there no equivalent of user "roles" in Koha—sets of permissions I can quickly apply to an account? It's one thing if I can just add a student to a "work study" role and another if I have to click a bunch of checkboxes. Generating a barcode list of records created by a particular user in a given time frame

Kohacon 2017

Hello everyone, Kohacon 2016 is almost over. It was a fantastic event and I am sad to leave Thessaloniki and everyone here tomorrow. We already have a wiki page for Kohacon 2017 bids, and I invite everyone to enter their proposals to host Kohacon next year. My phone does not want to copy the link, so just do a search in the Koha wiki for kohacon17. Keep in mind that we have been in Europe this year, so we will pick a place on a different continent next year. Dear Koha community, Is there anyone in the community who successfully connect to Library of Congress Z39.50 server for copy cataloguing practices or search on port 210? Maybe I could have missed out on any new changes and updates with the Library of Congress connection issues. SQL reports - Fine generating with itemtype filter

Dear all, I need help in generating a report related to fines. Using the below report iam able to generate the fines. I would like to add a filter to this report "itemtype" for fine report as our circulation rules are slightly different for books and journals and the complete fine reports sometimes not exactly what iam looking for. I tried adding this (SELECT itype FROM items t WHERE t.itype = 'BK') AS 'ITEMTYPE') and added items t at "from statement", but not working. Facets and Yaz

I've been looking more into the facets with Zebra a bit and have determined that, for every version of Yaz > 5.8.0, I have to turn Zebra Facets off within the /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml file. I tried a couple of different versions of Zebra and that does not change anything. The only way I've been able to get Zebra facets to work is to roll back Yaz to 5.8.0. What combinations of Yaz and Zebra are used within Debian when testing is done? What versions come with Debian installs? I assume that others either have not run into this problem or base packages used by the OS are older. Do I lose anything by rolling back to that level of Yaz?
