Fast cataloguing
by Deb Vincent 03 Jul '16

03 Jul '16

Hi all I have superlibrarian permissions, but don't seem to get the option to add a book through fast cataloguing. If I try to issue an item that is not in the catalogue, I get a message saying the barcode is not recognised, but no option to fast add. I have also looked in Circulations, and can't find a link there either. Am I looking in the wrong places, or is there something I need to do first to enable fast cataloguing? Thanks for your help. FW: Koha Digest, Vol 128, Issue 34 -Re: Printing Additional Patron attribute on Patron Card
by Admire Mutsikiwa 03 Jul '16

Hi Katrin, Hope I find you well. You are a life-saver! I used sort1 field and use the bsort1 authorised value categories to create the Grade categories. Thank you very much. My only small problem is to change the label "Sort 1" on the patron entry page to "Grade" so as to make the system more user friendly at the expense of upgrades, of course! Otherwise your solution worked perfectly well for me. What is the loan period set to? Has a hard due date been set? - Patron account expiry: is it possible the patron account is about to expire? Maybe a workaround could be to use one of the statistic fields on the patron record for storing the information about the grade instead. Those fields can be turned into pull downs using the bsort1 and bsort2 authorised value categories. Hope this helps, Katrin Am 16.06.2016 um 11:16 schrieb Admire Mutsikiwa: > Hi > > > > I am working on deploying Koha for a local Primary School. Maybe an idea for a workaround: Create a repeatable extended patron attribute for storing previous cardnumbers. This will require manually filling out the field the same time the cardnumber is changed, but maybe would be easier to handle than using one of the notes fields. Change in results display between 3.18 and 3.22
by Andy Boze 03 Jul '16

03 Jul '16

We're currently running Koha 3.18 and planning to upgrade to 3.22 this month. We have OPACXSLTResultsDisplay set to "no xslt" (i.e., blank). All of the items have the status "Not for loan". In our productions system (3.18), the results display shows the items to be available, followed by location and call number, like this: Availability: Items available: Main Collection [261.72 M964r] (1), However, on our test system (3.22), the results display shows: Availability: No items available: I can change OPACXSLTResultsDisplay to "default", in which case the availability line changes to: Availability: Items available for reference: [Call number: 261.72 M964r] (1). The "default" setting causes other changes to the results display, too, so we'd prefer to leave it blank, but having it say "No items available" is a bit of a problem. I'm wondering whether anyone knows if this change between 3.18 and 3.22 is a bug or was intended. If anyone wants to see the difference, see the following. 3.18 - https://tantur.library.nd.edu/ 3.22 - https://tanturpprd.library.nd.edu/ -- Andy Boze, Associate Librarian University of Notre Dame 208A Hesburgh Library (574) 631-8708

New Kohaer question
by Tim Auld 02 Jul '16

02 Jul '16

Jimmy, Regarding your question about installing Koha on Debian on your Mac, what is it that you plan to use Koha for? Is it for your person use or do you want to be able to share it with others? I have several different flavors of Linux installed on my iMac, but I use VMWare Fusion to host them. But this is all for my personal use. I'm not trying to share them with others. Regards, Tim Auld Minnesota.
