Kohacon 2017 at at Ayala Museum, Philippines
by Mirko Tietgen 13 Aug '16

13 Aug '16

Hello everyone, the deadline to hand in proposals to host Kohacon 2017 has ended. We had two bids. Due to our policy to switch continents each year only one of them was valid. That means we can skip the voting process. Kohacon 2017 will take place at Ayala Museum, Makati, Philippines in June 2017. You can find more info at https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/KohaCon17_Proposals Congratulations to the organizing group, we are looking forward to another exciting Koha event. Cheers, Mirko -- Mirko Tietgen mirko(a)abunchofthings.net http://koha.abunchofthings.net http://meinkoha.de

Running Koha OPAC over SSL breaks GoogleIndicTransliteration syspref function
by Indranil Das Gupta 13 Aug '16

13 Aug '16

Hi all, GoogleIndicTransliteration is a nifty Koha feature allowing easy typing and searching in several (mainly Indic) languages to a lot of users from the Indian sub-continent and elsewhere. However, a MIXED CONTENT bug prevents it from working if the OPAC is run over https. It is however a trivial fix and I've filed a bug (id 17103) on the bugzilla with the patch to fix it. For non IT geeks, here's a blog post that tries to explain the issue and how to fix it in simple terms - http://blog.l2c2.co.in/index.php/2016/08/12/koha-opac-over-ssl-breaks-googl… cheers, idg -- Indranil Das Gupta L2C2 Technologies Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://blog.l2c2.co.in IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg

Importing record to koha thorugh marcedit
by Mehvish Farah 12 Aug '16

12 Aug '16

Hi, Records to enter to Koha needs the excel or csv files to be changed in to .mrk and then .mrc format. I used Marcedit for that as in the manual but when i did that, it showed me only one book record. I tried a couple of times and its the same. I am not sure where i am making a mistake. Please help if you can. I have tried full xml export for .xlx also as an Xml file and csv format but none of them are giving me the full records list to be imported to koha. Using perl module Koha::Contrib::Tamil koha-auth
by Pedro Amorim 12 Aug '16

12 Aug '16

Hello everyone, After importing biblio records, I know need to create authority records from those biblios, and link them respectively. I am using Koha Contrib Tamil perl modules from Frederic Demians http://search.cpan.org/dist/Koha-Contrib-Tamil/ which looks like exactly what I want: 1) Extract authorities from the biblios; 2) Import them in Koha; 3) Link authorities and biblios together. I managed to install the perl module through CPAN and got through steps 1) and 2) fairly quickly, however I am struggling with step 3), as I am having two problems I think: 1) For many biblios, the following message is presented: WARNING: authority not found -- 353.9(469)(094.4) But said authority indeed exists and is indexed. 2) After about 400 biblios processed (I think), it throws this error and it hangs printing "405" forever: *** unhandled exception in callback: *** Quantifier follows nothing in regex; marked by <-- HERE in m/* <-- HERE / at /usr/local/share/perl/5.14.2/Koha/Contrib/Tamil/Authority/LinkBiblioTask.pm line 77. *** ignoring at /usr/local/lib/perl/5.14.2/AnyEvent/Impl/Glib.pm line 166. 405 405 405 ... So my question is, has anyone used this open source module before and how successfull where they? Thank you, Pedro Amorim

Dear All, A very Good Morning to all of you. I have a query regarding the Demo of koha, I am using the Demo site of koha on Koha Community website but all my data (Patrons, Libraries, Members etc) wiped out from the server on next day. Can anyone tell me how I can save my data for few days or for few months on the Demo site of koha for testing purpose only. Thanks. -- *Best Regards* *Mohd. Help integrating RFID readers
by Dalton Fury 11 Aug '16

11 Aug '16

Hi, I just need a little advice. We have bought some non-SIP2 compatible RFID readers. What I was thinking of doing was to bind a python script to a keyboard shortcut. So when the patron card and a set of books are kept on the reader, our staff at the issue counter will invoke this script that runs in the background. Upon invokation, the script will get the patronid and barcodes of the books. Now just like a typical USB barcode scanner, it will inject keystrokes into the system. Everything is working great except the synchronization between the koha webpage and the keystrokes. One of the main obstacles I see is that koha allows me to checkout only one book at a time. Is these a way to check out multiple books in one go? Any other suggestions on improving the system is also welcome. Regards, Navaneeth Kishore
