Re: [Koha] Sharing advanced bib editor macros?
by Hernandez, Heather 04 Aug '16

That's great, Barton & Elaine! This is going to be fun, and will hopefully save a lot of folks some time when they get going with the advanced editor! Barton--are you busy with the Koha US conference? Or can you get started right away? A macro library like the reports library, as Elaine suggests, sounds great to me! Or did you have something else in mind? I'll get working on some more macros to contribute! Cleaning up lots of duplicates
by Coehoorn, Joel 04 Aug '16

04 Aug '16

I've discovered that due to a mistake a long time ago we have a large number of duplicate biblio records in our system... as much as a third of our database, or possibly even more. This is old enough that the import marc batches have long been cleaned. The good news is these duplicates are mainly for e-Books licensed through EBSCO, where we just have the bibliographic record and an 856u field, with no items or circulation. If I could construct an SQL query to identify the duplicate biblionumbers (excluding an original record for each item), would it be enough to delete database records from the items, biblioitems, and biblios tables, and then fully re-index Zebra to clean these up? Assuming Debian/Ubuntu, what does printenv give you? You should see something like (amongst other lines): me@my_server:/$ printenv PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/local/lib/perl KOHA_CONF=/usr/share/koha/koha-conf.xml KOHA_PATH=/usr/share/koha I'm also a little surprised by your "-run-as-root" -- in slightly older versions of Koha, this was a "no-no", but may well have changed (mpm-itk?) There is also something I noticed in further emails: > your zebra error logs. [snip] > 20160713 07:36:11 dlpms-koha-zebra: client (pid 526) killed by signal 15, stopping > 20160713 07:40:07 dlpms-koha-zebra: client (pid 10116) killed by signal 15, stopping What were the 9590 processes in the <4 minutes? That log entry would certainly get my attention. Sharing advanced bib editor macros?
by Hernandez, Heather 04 Aug '16

04 Aug '16

Hi, all-- I was asked if I had created any macros for the advanced cataloging editor, and it made me realize that I had & that it might be good to get some macro sharing going! I'm not sure the best way to share them--perhaps a macro library on https://koha-community.org/ ? Because why type from scratch when you can copy & paste, right?:) These are the macros that I wrote and use, so far: New 3XX fields for photographic print bib record: new 336=‡astill image ǂb sti ǂ2 rdacontent new 337=‡aunmediated ǂb n ǂ2 rdamedia new 338=‡asheet ǂb nb ǂ2 rdacarrier New 540 note for archival material records: new 540=‡aThe San Francisco Maritime NHP possesses physical property rights through ownership of the materials. However, copyright may reside with the individual or corporate body responsible for the creation of the materials, or with their heirs. It is the user's responsibility to respect the provisions of the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code). Permission to reproduce or publish from this collection must be secured by the user from the copyright holders. New 710 field for archival material records: new 710=‡aSan Francisco Maritime National Historical Park (Agency : U.S.). 710k=Collection. 710n=SAFR indicators=2_ New 040 field for all original cataloging records: 040a=UDU 040c=UDU 040b=eng 040e=rda And I also used heavily the manual section about macros is 1.1.2.2. Macros in Advanced Cataloging <http://manual.koha-community.org/3.22/en/cataloging.html#macroscataloging> and learned that they are saved as cookies, so are browser-specific, i.e., I'm doing all my Koha work with my Firefox browser on a particular laptop, because that's the browser storing my macros. Hi everyone, the next general IRC meeting is next week, 3 August 2016, 10:00 UTC. Best way to install missing Perl modules?
by Michael Kuhn 03 Aug '16

03 Aug '16

Hi I have built a development system on Ubuntu 14.04 according to https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_git At the end koha_perl_deps.pl shows me three required Perlmodules (Exception::Class, Sereal::Decoder, Sereal::Encoder) that are not yet installed in the required version. Of course, easiest would be to install them via Debian packets - libexception-class-perl, libsereal-decoder-perl, libsereal-encoder-perl do exist but they don't contain the required versions. I went through the Koha wiki and found at least four different ways to install such missing Perl modules on Debian/Ubuntu. 1. Installation from CPAN using dh-make-perl, resulting in a command like dh-make-perl –install –cpan Foo::Bar 2. It seems also possible to download the source of the Perl module, then use dh-make-perl to create a Debian package that can be installed using dpkg dpkg -i Foo-Bar 2. Installation from CPAN cpan Foo::Bar 3. Installation from CPAN via perl perl -MCPAN -e 'shell' install Foo::Bar 4. Installation from CPAN using CPANMinus cpanm --local-lib /var/koha/koha-perl Foo::Bar Now my question: What is the best way to install missing Perl modules on a development system? And is there a difference if I need to install missing Perl modules on a productive system? Kind regards, Michael -- Geschäftsführer · Diplombibliothekar BBS, Informatiker eidg.
