Having problem using UNIMARC in Z39.50 target

Hi, all. I'm wondering whether anyone else is using a UNIMARC Z39.50 target and having a similar problem. We're running Koha 3.22.04.000. I've set up a target for Bibliothèque nationale de France using the following settings. Hostname: z3950.bnf.fr Port: 2211 Database: TOUT-UTF8 Userid: Z3950 Password: Z3950_BNF Syntax: UNIMARC Encoding: utf8 Record type: Bibliographic I got the configuration information from <http://www.bnf.fr/fr/professionnels/recuperation_donnees_bnf_boite_outils/a…>. In the Koha cataloging module, I can retrieve records from BnF via Z39.50, but Koha doesn't display the results correctly. Most of the columns are blank. The author column contains data from the 100 field. In UNIMARC the 100 field contains general processing data, not the author. It appears to me that even though the target is configured as UNIMARC, Koha is trying to display the results as MARC21. Is this a bug in Koha, or is there something else I need to do? Introducing "Mana" (central DB project)

Some months ago I sent an email to koha-devel, to announce that BibLibre was planning to work on a new project, dedicated to sharing informations between Koha (https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/SharingDatasBetweenKohas_rfc) I'm proud an happy to give you feedback about this project: things are moving quickly & nicely. * *Morgane*, our intern -alex_a being the tutor) is doing a great job (you can congratulate her on #koha ;-) ) * we've named this project "*Mana*". It's a Maori word (once again :D), easy to pronounce & write. http://maoridictionary.co.nz/search?&keywords=mana : "*(verb)* to be legal, effectual, binding, authoritative, valid." I'll ask for mana.koha-community.org DNS entry soon ! * as announced by Morgane, we're using the same framework as for HEA for the server side. The code is available on our git: http://git.biblibre.com/biblibre/koha-mana (will be pushed later on git.koha-community.org) The DB is here, some webservice are already here & working. * The koha-side is being worked, below are some screen shots. * we changed some things compared to my initial RFC. Everything is on trello, splitted into cards (https://trello.com/b/BslL6i9p/mana-biblibre trello not public, claire, the owner is not here today, we'll change the status in a day or 2.) Note that there can be some French on trello, even if Morgane avoid it. We plan to have MANA working at the end of august, at least for subscriptions (pattern & numbering) sharing. Maybe also for SQL reports & vendors. Some screen shots & features descriptions: in subscription management, you can now *share* a subscription pattern, by sending it to Mana: When you click on "share", after validation, you get a *feedback*: Anyone can then retrieve the numbering pattern & frequency calculation when creating a subscription (work being done this week). After the 1st screen of subscription creation, Koha will automatically query mana and check if there is some data available: The librarian will then be able to see what is available and get it locally in one click. Every time a librarian "get it locally", a counter will be incremented on Mana. Thus, if more than 1 frequency/pattern is submitted for a given title, the librarians should be able to see which one is "preferred" by other librarians. Additional features: * we will create a script that will help populate Mana from a CSV. We will probably issue a RFF ("Request For File" ;-) ) later. Our idea is that we want to launch Mana with many data already available. * comment. how to make work of cronjobs ?

Hi, ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Koha version -16.5.01 (upgraded from 3.16.00) OS: Ubuntu - 14.04 server edition (upgraded from 12.04) Install method - Packages Postfix - working successfully. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am not sure how to set up and make necessary modifications in cronjobs and need your help. Our library works from 9:30 am to 5.30 pm on week days and 9:30-1:30 pm on every saturday. (Desktop machine) as server, will be shutdown in the evening everyday until library receives a dedicated server machine. preliminary set up: 1. In System preferences >EnhancedMessagingPreferences > is set to Allow. 2. Each patron, is enabled to get check in, checkout, overdue notices. 3. # crotab -e, shows, all lines are commented. 4. Is it required to run even for packages install method ? or is it already setup? # ENVIRONMENT: PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml (http://kohaworkshop.pbworks.com/w/page/7060237/koha%20cronjobs) 5. /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs shows - crontab.example and it has all the required instructions. 6. currently, after setting up postfix, overdue message, advance due notice, check in, check out , new registration notice all are working,. but I wanted to properly setup timings as per our library's open and closing hours. Round the World Koha Tour

I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the global Koha community and in the space of less than a week we have ourselves a Koha World Tour! The draft itinerary can be seen online here: http://www.tiki-toki.com/timeline/entry/665664/Round-the-World-Koha-Tour/ While it does circumnavigate the world it misses out on huge chunks which will have to wait for another time. I can't, in all conscience, take more than 3 months away from the workforce and will have to get a real job at some point! I have shown the local hosts or contacts for each leg in case people would like to help or host. I will have 3 topics that I would love to talk about: 1. The Origins of Koha: why we developed it, why Koha, how it has developed and why it is so jolly special; 2. The Koha Community: this is why its so special :) Will talk about how the community works and how to get the best out of belonging; 3. Te Takere: transforming a c1960s library service into a thriving community centre. As leader of this fantastic project it has been a career changing gig and one which has required a whole new approach. With visitor counts rising from 18k a month to over 40k and reported youth crime down 60% after the first year of opening we were doing something right. Once I have firmed up a few more leads and checked the feasibility of this from a booking flights point of view I'll post a firm itinerary. Patron import problem 3.22

We routinely import patron records (derived from our membership database) and overwrite the old ones in order to update expiration dates, addresses, etc. I recently ran this process through our test site (running 3.22.06) and it failed. The error message I got back was the records were not imported because the userid was already in use or missing. I had chosen 'overwrite matching records' Oddly, the import process worked fine in the production site running 3.22.07 Is there a system preference I should check in the test site? Maybe this is related to Bug 15840 - Import borrowers tool explodes if userid already exists We match on cardnumber, Is this the same as the userid? Koha downgrade after update?

I had Koha version 3.18. After upgrading I have version 16.05.01 Is there more than one version of koha or did I do it wrong? importing new authorities other than in PERSO_NAME via Tools/Z39.50

Hi, is it possible to import a new authority other than in PERSO_NAME (say, a new Uniform Title) via Tools ("Stage MARC records for import"), or even by Z39.50? Seemingly, in order to populate any authority table other than the default (i.e. PERSO_NAME) it is only possible to create a new authority in the table of choice. Thanks, Giuseppe.
