koha search option

I am new to koha. I have been struggling with learning different koha features. I have added two records in my koha database but i dont see them in opac. Hw to index koha database. Josh- I tried this on Great Bend Public Library's collection and have a few observations. If the to/from date is the same (12/08 - 12/08), the result is zero. So I tried 12/08 - 12/09 and then got a figure. Authorised values for use in extended patron attributes

Hi there, I am having trouble getting a list of the authorised values to display in the extended attributes area at he bottom of the patron registration screen and would appreciate any help I can get! 1. Koha / admin / patron attribute types : I have set up 2 new codes: ETHNIC and IWI. ETHNIC has an 'Authorised Value Category' specified of ETHNIC. IWI is left as free text field. 2. koha / admin / authorised values : I have created a new category called ETHNIC. It has 6 authorized values entered (European, Asian, Maori, etc). 3. When I go to add a new Patron, near the bottom the form in the Additional Attribute and identifiers section, the drop down box displays but there are no values to select from listed. I was expecting to see a list of the 6 authorised values entered in 2 above. Any idea what I havn't done correctly please? Many thanks, Joann Ransom.

Using a staff member as a guarantor for a child

Hi there, Is it possible to select a staff member as a guarantor? In the add new patron screen, in the guarantor section, the "set to patron" function works fine when searching for an ordinary member to be the patron, (ie the search patron window returns a result) but it does not find an existing 'staff' member whom I know is in the database. Is this a bug or is it by design? cheers Joann Ransom.
