Koha 3 in production WITH diactrics

Does anyone have Koha 3 in production with diactrics (utf-8) working correctly -- diacritics display and searches on terms which have diacritics work? I've been to several library catalogs which appear to be using Koha 3 and which show items published in English and Spanish, but none of them have diacritics working. Some sites display diacritics correctly, but searches on terms with diacritics fail. Thanks for any URLs of Koha 3 with diacritics working! Zebra rebuild running in crontab script?

Has anyone experienced a problem running rebuild_zebra.pl in a sh script running in crontab? The rebuild_zebra doesn't delete or update the existing index (I'm using the -r switch) and if I manually delete the index files through the script the rebuild_zebra doesn't recreate them. If I run the rebuild_zebra script manually it runs successfully and recreates the index files. Printing spine labels

Is anyone able to print spine labels from Koha? We can't, and LibLime hasn't been able to get it working, so we print from OCLC. Thanks. Rick

Barcodes and scanners

Hello, We're a Senior High School considering Koha as our ILS. Are we able to use pre-printed barcodes from someone like Leigh Mardon, or do we have to print our own. Can't make "RLIN" subfields hidden

I am attempting to create a framework with all of the subfields marked as hidden as a baseline for our librarian to use to create special frameworks where she wants only a few fields to display (for temporary items like ILL books for example). I created a new framework named MT from the default, then ran this sql statement against it. UPDATE `marc_subfield_structure` SET hidden='-6' WHERE `frameworkcode` = 'MT' This almost created the empty framework. There are still a number of tags/subfields that show up even though they have a -6 in the 'hidden' attribute. They all have (RLIN) in the title, and it is always the subfield 9 that is showing. For instance, tag 100$9 - MAIN ENTRY--PERSONAL NAME * . The others are tags 110, 111, 130, 440, 600, 610, 611, 630, 650, 651, 690, 691, 696, 697, 698, 699, 700, 710, 711, 730, 796, 797, 798, 799, 800, 810, 811, 830, 896, 897, 898, 899 . It is always the subfield 9 that is showing. The same thing happens when trying to hide one of these fields in the default framework. RLIN is persistant. Is it hardcoded somewhere perhaps? Is there a way to hide these subfields? Thanks, Doug

Patron attribute types

Hi there, probably a dumb question ...(sigh) I am working through the system preferences and parameters for a lovely new Koha 3.0 test site. We are running 3.00.00.107. Is it important to enter / specify any attribute types in the "Patron Attribute Types" are under Patrons and Circlation"?. If I should enter any / some, what ones would people suggest and why? This may be too simple, but have you clicked on the "Label" (e.g., "Main Entry--Corporate Name"? This opens up boxes to enter information. how to connect MARC records to a branch?

Hello, First, an intro: These days I do database stuff for a living, mostly Oracle. I spent a year doing web coding professionally: LAMP, where P=Perl. I'm installing Koha for a small charter school. It's replacing Sagebrush Athena. Now my problem: I successfully installed Koha and imported MARC records from Sagebrush Athena. I can see the records in the database tables biblio and biblioitems. I can also see the records when I "Search the Catalog" from the administrative site (not the OPAC). However, the location column in the search results page says "No Items". If I understand the schema correctly, the items table has info regarding barcode, holdingbranch, homebranch. My items table is EMPTY.
