We're doing research on the Koha Foundation and have found this much: I did a business name search for Koha from the following page: http://www2.sos.state.oh.us/portal/page?_pageid=35,58664,35_58678&_dad=p ortal&_schema=PORTAL and found the papers that were filed to create the foundation, but we're wondering if there is a federal tax id for the foundation or anything else filed - or if this was just a placeholder. Anyway, if you can search at work that would be great, if not, do you know a business librarian I can ask? Thanks Nicole PS. I hope all is well!!!

Inventory barcode scanner
by Greer, Katie 05 Dec '09

Has anyone been using a portable barcode scanner with the inventory module in Koha? I'm looking for product recommendations, as we'd like to do an inventory of the collection next summer. The cheaper the scanner, the better, of course!

Question about using icu
by Chadwick, John, DCA 04 Dec '09

04 Dec '09

A BIG thanks to Henri for suggesting that we try using icu to resolve our diacritic issues. The good news is that this worked great on our development server with about 30 records. The bad news is that when I go to reindex zebra on our production server the process fails to commit. The production server currently has about 2000 records at this time. Any ideas or suggestions. slightly off topic

I've been playing around with geocoding my patron data. Got the longitude and latitude for all my patrons which is a good start. Unfortunately I'm having difficulty locating a tool that will convert either the address or the long/lat into US Census tract and block data. If anyone has a tool or suggestion I'd appreciate a nudge or a kick in the right direction.

Re: [Koha] Koha Advice Sought
by Chris Nighswonger 04 Dec '09

Hi Inock, I'm forwarding your request to the Koha user's mailing list as there may be others with helpful suggestions there. I am not a librarian myself. What I have learned about ILS and cataloging, etc. has been learned from the librarians here, the Internet, and the many helpful folks on the lists and #koha (irc). I would suggest starting with the latter two sources. As for relevant courses of learning, I'm sure that someone with a degree in Library Science could speak to this better than I. I hope this is of some help.
