Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] file encoding problems

Try using an editor and configuration with known good UTF8 behavior. Something like vi or emacs, most likely. jEdit seems to have known issues w/ UTF8 detection: http://community.jedit.org/?q=node/view/2965 You will also have to check your terminal environment to make sure the UTF8 stuff gets across and is preserved correctly. The koha wiki "encoding scratchpad" has a lot of good things to check. --joe 2009/12/3 Chadwick, John, DCA <john.chadwick(a)state.nm.us> > I am trying to edit the sort-string-utf.chr file to map characters with > diacritics (acute and grave accents) to letters without accents. > > > > The problem I am running into is that I am trying to open up the files in a > program called jEdit. Multiple Library Search :: Help Needed
by nitesh rijal 04 Dec '09

04 Dec '09

Hello all. We have hosted 10 different Libraries at 10 different Public IPs. Now while searching the koha catalog from the OPAC view of any one of the libraries, is it possible to limit the search to one of the libraries we have hosted??? I mean to say that suppose that we browse the opac interface with the IP of Libarary A, then is it possible to select the branch as Libarary B in the limit options provided by KOHA and then get the results from only Library B ??? I have already added certain libraries and group into it. Libarary A : 202.70.88.22 Libarary B : 202.70.88.23 Please Help. -- Nitesh Rijal BE IT email: rijal.it(a)gmail.com url: http://niteshrijal.com.np facebook: http://facebook.com/openrijal twitter: http://twitter.com/openrijal +9779841458173

One bug found
by Chadwick, John, DCA 03 Dec '09

03 Dec '09

In dealing with trying to get diacritics to work, I did run into one bug. There is a line of code missing in the sort-string-utf.chr file located at /etc/koha/zebradb/lang_defs/en encoding utf-8 Discovered this one when comparing the English version with the French version. Error while adding authority
by lafghan 03 Dec '09

Hi, When we try to add a new authority, we have the following error : Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: No _parse_* routine defined on this driver (If it is a filter, remember to set the Parent property. If you call the parse() method, make sure to set a Source. You may want to call parse_uri, parse_string or parse_file instead.) New Acq Documentation
by Nicole Engard 03 Dec '09

03 Dec '09

Hi all, I'm going to need some help with documenting the new acq module. There are a lot of new links and features that I'm not sure about. First is regarding the different types of budgets - there are Root Budgets and Period Budgets ... and maybe more ;) What's the difference? Why would I want one over the other? Also there was a link I think should be on the Admin page and so I put a bug report in for that: http://bugs.koha.org/cgi-bin/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=3839 I can make the change if others agree with me. Task Scheduler
by Nicole Engard 03 Dec '09

03 Dec '09

Hi all, As you know I'm working on the 3.2 manual. I'm about to write up the Task Scheduler documentation and I have never seen this in action, so I wanted to ask if any of you are using it and if so what do you want me to note in the manual about the process. In the old manual I had some notes in the comments: http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.2/tools/task-scheduler that implied that this tool didn't work - but I've heard from some of you that it does ... so basically I need to know how it works so I can write it up properly. Thanks a bunch, Nicole C. Engard

Biblio and Biblioitem
by Elaine Bradtke 03 Dec '09

03 Dec '09

Could someone please explain the terms Biblio and Biblioitem? I tried looking through the manual and the FAQ's but the terms appear so frequently that I get too many hits. And the Glossary wasn't any help either. I'm editing the subfields in the MARC framework and under Advanced constraints there's a Koha link. I was trying to link at what I thought was the appropriate level - the biblio.isbn but there only appears to be a biblioitems.isbn Not understanding the difference between biblio and biblioitems makes me wonder if this will work. I'm trying to link analyticals together using their common ISBN in the 773 Host Item Entry field. Quoting from the 3.0 manual: # link : If you enter a field/subfield here (200b), a little glass appears after the subfield. If the user click on the glass, a search is done on the DB for the field/subfield with the same value. Can be used for 2 main topic : * on a field like author (200f in UNIMARC), put 200f here, you will be able to see all biblios with the same author * on a field that is a link (4xx) to reach another biblio. For example, put 011a in 464$x, will find the serial that was previously with this issn. With the 4xx pligin, you get a powerful tool to manage biblios connected to biblios # Koha link : Koha is multi-MARC compliant. So, it does not know what the 245$a means, neither what 200$f (those 2 fields being both the title in MARC21 and UNIMARC !). So, in this list you can "map" a MARC subfield to it's meaning. Koha constantly maintains consistency between a subfield and it's meaning. When the user want to search on "title", this link is used to find what is searched (245 if you're MARC21, 200 if you're UNIMARC). -- Elaine

Barcode in OPAC user account.
by Vimal Kumar 03 Dec '09

03 Dec '09

Dear Friends, We distributed login ID and password among our students for online access of OPAC. They mainly use the login facility to check the due date of books. They complained me that, barcode or accession number of books not display in the list of books they checked out. They feel difficult to identify their books in hostel. Its would be nice to display barcode also in the list of books in OPAC users account. With thanks, -- Vimal Kumar V. Asst. Re: [Koha] [Koha-devel] Possible Bug in Circulation - > Overdues

Remember to reply to all - I can't always answer every question :) Anyway, looks like you're a few versions back, so you might want to wait until next week and upgrade to 3.05 (which should be out). Unless someone else has an idea. Nicole On Thu, Dec 3, 2009 at 8:52 AM, Roche III, Edward <edward_roche(a)solanco.k12.pa.us> wrote: > 3.0002012 > > Thanks! > Ed > > Edward J.
