Re: [Koha] LDAP authentication
by Scott Owen 03 Jan '11

03 Jan '11

Vitor, Here is my working LDAP config. section Differences that jump out at me: I use the IP rather than the FQDN for the LDAP server. No auth_by_bind section at all.....and my LDAP auth works fine. Can you access your LDAP directory with other LDAP tools? (Softerra LDAP browser?) ************************************** <useldapserver>1</useldapserver>  <ldapserver id="ldapserver" listenref="ldapserver"> <hostname>10.1.1.7</hostname> <base>T=********</base> <user>*************</user>  <pass>*************</pass>  <replicate>1</replicate>  <update>0</update>  <mapping>  <firstname is="givenname" ></firstname> <surname is="sn" ></surname> <address is="" >Alma Public Schools</address> <city is="" >Alma</city> <zipcode is="" >48801</zipcode> <branchcode is="" >PINE</branchcode> <userid is="cn" ></userid> <password is="" ></password> <email is="mail" ></email> <categorycode is="" >PT</categorycode> <phone is="telephonenumber"></phone> </mapping> </ldapserver> ************************************************** >>> Vitor Fernandes<vitorfernandes87(a)gmail.com> 12/28/2010 10:11 AM >>> Hi there. I want to use LDAP authentication on my Koha (3.2.2). There is any tutorial to do this? Now I've added this block to my koha-conf.xml: <useldapserver>1</useldapserver> <ldapserver id="ldapserver" listenref="ldapserver"> <hostname>*******</hostname> <base>*********</base> <user>*******</user> <pass>*******</pass> <replicate>0</replicate> <update>0</update> <auth_by_bind>1</auth_by_bind> <mapping> <firstname is="givenName" ></firstname> <surname is="sn" ></surname> <userid is="userPrincipalName"></userid> <email is="mail"></email> </mapping> </ldapserver> I don't want to replicate neither update users in Koha. LDAP will be only used to authentication. But i'm having this error: "Can't call method "bind" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth_with_ldap.pm line 122". The hostname of LDAP is correct... I've checked Auth_with_ldap.pm and the problem is that $db variable (Net::LDAP->new(hostname)) is empty. Any solution? Thanks for your time. Regards. z39.50 search not working
by Caitlin McGurk 03 Jan '11

03 Jan '11

Hi All, Our library is having a mass volunteer-based cataloging session today to get all of our collection into our new Koha database, and for some reason the Z39.50 Search is not working. This is nearly an emergency, as I have a staff of volunteers waiting to help! Eeek. It was working fine for the past month, but now when I click on it nothing happens. Suggestions?? Thank you! -- Caitlin McGurk *Librarian The Schulz Library The Center for Cartoon Studies <http://www.cartoonstudies.org> McGurk(a)cartoonstudies.org*

Problem with prediction pattern in Serials
by Peel Lisa 03 Jan '11

03 Jan '11

Hello And a belated Happy New Year ! I have a very small problem but one which I cannot find an easy resolution for. I set up most of our serials at the end of last year -several of my serials should now roll over into the next year or volume number (for example, vol 194, no 1 or 2011/1). However, though they are rolling back to number 1 they are not rolling forward by 1 as far as the volume number and/or year is concerned. One example is the pattern for a serial using the year/number pattern Everything looks fine on the predication pattern - when I go into the advanced pattern for X (volume or year) the pattern is: Add 1 Once every 12 When more than 9999999 Inner counter 2 Set back to 0 Last value 2010 Should the fact that the first issues checked in was actually 2010/10 have an impact? I am wondering if the 'once every' does not mean issue number (Y) but the actual number of issues which have to be checked in. If this is the case, would I then have to edit the pattern again as I would have to set it to 2 to get it to roll over to 2011, and then change it back to 12 so it would not go to 2012 in March! Golly, I hope this makes some sense to someone! Any help would be really appreciated! Re: [Koha] unable to run apache after upgrade from 3.0 to 3.2
by Randall Rowe 03 Jan '11

It means that the file /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/koha has an error. There is a closing </VirtualHost> without an opening <VirtualHost>. Check the file and see if you can figure out the problem or post it and we'll see what went wrong. AccessPA search target
by ksckemperman＠chartermi.net 03 Jan '11

03 Jan '11

I discovered the z39.50 search target Access PA, which has been a godsend to import records for Scholastic books. The only problem I'm having is that when I click on "save" for the MARC record, I get an error message if the subfield 040 has nothing in it, specifically 040c. Using the manuals, this subfield seems to refer to an OCLC code number. I have searched multiple sites and cannot seem to find an OCLC code for Access PA. Any help?

Re: [Koha] Currently Available Items Filter Problem
by Chris Cormack 02 Jan '11

02 Jan '11

Yes, that is the behaviour you get before you uncomment those lines. Are you sure you edited the right file? Because there is a patch that uncomments those lines in master, and it changes the behaviour back to searching the indexes, not searching for the word available. Others have verified this, so I am guessing you edited the wrong copy of the file, or something similar. Chris On 3 Jan 2011 01:27, "massoud alshareef" <massoud(a)kwareict.com> wrote: Hello, Here is our shot to solve the that Availability Filter problem.. As suggested, we uncommented all lines in the following code (part of file: search.pm) # if ( $this_limit =~ /available/ ) { # ## 'available' is defined as (items.onloan is NULL) and (items.itemlost = 0) ## In English: ## all records not indexed in the onloan register (zebra) and all records with a value of lost equal to 0 # $availability_limit .= #"( ( allrecords,AlwaysMatches='' not onloan,AlwaysMatches='') and (lost,st-numeric=0) )"; #or ( allrecords,AlwaysMatches='' not lost,AlwaysMatches='')) )"; # $limit_cgi .= "&limit=available"; # $limit_desc .= ""; Clicking on Currently Available Items filter here ( http://alshafallah.maktabat-online.net/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=science) gives no results. This is in spite that all records in the catalog are not indexed in the onloan register (zebra) and all records have a value of lost equal to 0 in the database. We uploaded English only marc file to test with, download from the net, and we noticed that the link of the availability worked fine, then as we investigated its records we found the field 500$a is filled with the word "available" ! The item considered to available if field 500$a is loaded with "available" string else it's not available. We understand that Availability of a title means it has copies on the shelf ready for loan; in technical terms 'available' is defined as (items.onloan is NULL) and (items.itemlost = 0) ...etc Thank you for your help.
