Shelley, From a command line run ps -ef | grep zebra and you should see something like the below. Imported records not found in catalog search

Thanks to Chris, I have been able to use the z39.50 search function to import MARC records for books, but when I go to search for those books in the catalog, they are not found. You are absolutely right removing it would cause problems, but I don't suggest doing that, if you look at bug 5515 you will see I suggest we use something other than and for the directive perhaps +++ and then change build query to use that. People could still use ccl from the browser if they type ccl= but all other searches would be constructed by buildquery and would look like ti=the hobbit +++ au=tolkien. Which would mean ti=and simple +++ au=bob would work too. We might want to do the same with or and not. Hope this makes sense, typed on my phone while taking a break from christmas shopping. However, if you are checking books out, it means that a person (presumably you) is involved in the process at the point of checkout. I tried adding a non-public note to an item, but the note does not show up at any point during the checkout process. It might be possible to add this. I'm not sure. I've never used Koha in a circulating library, so perhaps someone else will have an idea. reading through the various tutorials and getting started documents is still leaving me with the impression that adding an item into a library is a very cumbersom process (manually search for a MARC record, save it, load it into koha, add an item) has anyone made a simple script that would let me feed it a list of books (by scanned ISBN codes for example) and have it do everything under the covers to get it added? I know that I've seen smaller personal library-type applications that had this sort of capibility. I have some books that I have in multiple formats (paperback, hardcover, plus several e-book formats), how can I tag these appropriately? the MARC records that I've found seem to be just for the hardcover edition. I am not a trained librarian, just someone with several hundred titles in e-book version and a few thousand paper books looking to get some sort of sanity around things. I've gone through all the user guides and tutorials listed on the koha-community site, is there another place I should look for info and guidence to setup a small library like mine? David Lang

I've finally gotten around to setting up koha and ran into a few headaches that I would like to suggest improvements for. first off, I ran into problems with the install as I opted to make the database named kohadefault instead of koha, but the install process didn't properly create the database, and still attempted to access the database koha. I manually went in to mysql and ran the kohastructure.sql file manually. Secondly, it would be nice if there was some straightforward way to have koha run without taking over the webserver it's running on (I already have quite a few other things running, and would rather setup koha at lang.hm/koha rather than having to setup a new site for it) Third, I loaded the default data and need to do a bunch of removing of things, it would be very nice if it was possible to check multiple items and hit delete (and confirmation) once, rather than having to delete and confirm for each item (with the delay to re-draw the multiple screens in the process.
