Barcode Printer
by sheldon_tappin 14 Jan '11

Hi All, Has anyone tried printing barcode labels on a parcode printer. Also can anyone tell me which barcode printer should we purchase to print our barcode labels. Currently we're not considering the ordinary printers to print our barcodes. Introduction to me and my little problem with import in koha
by Prawesh Shrestha 14 Jan '11

14 Jan '11

Hi, My name is Prawesh Shrestha from Nepal. I am working as Project Engineer in Young Innovation Pvt. Ltd., a software company. My company had installed koha in a local university library. I am looking after it but not as developer more as a koha's features user. Right now, I am looking after the importing of catalog in koha from WinIsis. Before that, more than half data had been imported and new data had also been entered. There are more data from Winisis to be migrated but we are not exactly in position to know the remaining data to be imported. So we have full data of which some had been imported. So I am trying to import the leftover using "Matching Rules". I made new matching rules matching titles. Although it works, few of the data are duplicated. I went through manual and a book "Koha 3 Library Management System". However, I can get full understanding of matching rules. Is there anyway I can understand matching rules in more depth or technique to avoid the duplication. I hope you understand what I want to know. Tables used for Reading Record and Circulation History
by Marty 14 Jan '11

14 Jan '11

Hi all, I am trying to figure out why I have no circulation history or reading record in Koha. I know I can access this info through the statistics table in mysql, my question is which other tables are involved, so I can check them. intranetreadinghistory is set to allow, as is the opacreadinghistory. Are there any other settings to turn on circulation history or reading record? Thanks, Marty

Still cannot save edited patron info
by Marty 14 Jan '11

14 Jan '11

Oy vey, I hate it when I seem to have a unique problem... I have been trying everything I could think of to be able to change my patron info in Koha.I can enter new patrons without problems. However, I cannot save changed in Koha.I can go into a patron's account and change anything I want, but when I save all info is left unchanged. I can go into the database and use the UPDATE table SET etc. command, and that works.Obviously that is only a temporary solution. I tried upgrading (now on 3.02.02.000), deleting the database and recreating it and reentering the data in mysql, and some other things I cannot remember anymore. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I am missing info in some table or another as I've had problems upgrading from an earlier version and the cataloguing page disappeared which I solved by doing a selective backup and restore, and I might have lost some vital information there maybe. But I haven't the foggiest which table that could be and if that is the actual problem. Also, the checkout history always returns 'title' has never been checked out and the reading record is always empty, not sure whether that might be related somehow. Below is part of the apache error log; with the errors it throws when I want to save changes to a patron. [Wed Jan 12 10:04:11 2011] memberentry.pl: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3 at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/SQLHelper.pm line 175. I hope somebody will have some bright idea, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks, Marty

Put May 2 and 3, 2011 on your calendars for the KUDOS<http://kudos.koha.org/>conference to be held in Madison, Wisconsin at the UW Madison Pyle Center. <http://conferencing.uwex.edu/mtgspaces_pyle.cfm> More information on transportation and housing will be coming soon. This will be a conference for and by users of Koha in collaboration with vendors that support or interact with Koha. We are hopeful that this conference will be a low cost/no cost option with the help of sponsorships from vendors and libraries. We are looking for volunteers to serve on the planning and program committees. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know. We need to get to work on this right away! Please not that this is NOT going to be a KohaCon and at this time no Hackfest is being organized. -- Vicki Teal Lovely Helping our 52 member libraries provide the best possible service to the public. Z39.5 error
by mus 13 Jan '11

13 Jan '11

http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/file/n3339398/z395_error.png Hello everbody, I would like to ask for your help for my problem about KOHA used in my library. For your information, my koha version is 2.29 and running on linux OS n mysql. Lately, I face problem with z.39.5 searching. I got error like picture above when I try to search for record for example in z3950.loc.gov, in log it say premature end of script. After searching for possible factors, it show that it should be port to the servers has been blocked. so, I forward this case to my network administrator and he open all port, then it is ok. But a few days after, the problem coming back, but this time not a few port that error to connect, but this time all of it..But this error is not consistently happen mean sometime the function is ok..Usually this problem happen at morning and after a few hours, the function is ok. sometime there is no error for a day and sometime the error come for the whole day. Again, I forward this probrem to my NA, but this time he say all port has been allowed and nothing wrong with network configuration. And he suggest that the problem is coming from KOHA script that maybe doing telnet to the z39.5 servers too frequently that caused KOHA IP address was blocked for a while, he also stated that the traffic from KOHA server is too high reaching 12 TB eventhough there is not so many staff use it. It is right about it? I would like to ask for your opinion and help about this problem. Thank you for your attention.. I really hope that I can fine the exact factor of this error. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Z39-5-error-tp3339398p3339398.html Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Problem installing git
by Stefano Bargioni 13 Jan '11

13 Jan '11

Hi, I installed a Debian using the netinst CD. "apt-get install mysql-server" was successfull, while "apt-get install git" seems to work (it declares to install git and gnuit), but git is not installed. "which git" and "locate git" do not report any useful information. Repeating "apt-get install git" says that the latest version of git is installed. How can I solve this? Thanks. Stefano

Multi Volume Set
by Paula Corman 13 Jan '11

13 Jan '11

I am cataloging a 10-volume set of encyclopedias. Each as its own ISBN number but the set will be cataloged as one main entry. Therefore, my question is, do I add a discrete biblio record for each volume?
