Dear Friends, KohaCon 2011 in India will make waves among libraries. Definitely it will make positive effects in library automation market in India Prestigious libraries and government agencies are trying to check feasibility of Koha in India. Libraries under the control of Government of Kerala started to use Koha. Delhi public library is another example to highlight. KohaCon 2011 can open the eyes of professional organizations for librarians, library schools and Government machinery. We have to consider that, number of Koha users are growing in India. Consider this mail as my vote in favour of KohaCon 2011 in India. Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. Kohacon 2011 bid
by Sunita Barve 20 Jan '11

Dear all, We strongly support to hold next kohacon 2011 in India and we support VPN, Thane to host this event. Many libraries in India are now using Koha and many libraries are looking out for a stable software to automate their collections. Many institutes in India are taking initiatives in holding workshops on Koha to make the library community aware of this software. Hence there is a strong reason to hold Kohacon in India. reg Sunita Barve, Ph. D. SIRC-In-Charge National Centre for Radio Astrophysics Post Bag No. 3, Pune Univ. What do I do with my MARC records?
by WTC 19 Jan '11

19 Jan '11

Hello I've used MARCEdit to import an Excel spreadsheet of ISBNs, Titles and Authors. I found out how to then import this to Koha. But the data is incomplete. Is there a way to add to my MARC records from a z39.50 source? Can this be done within Koha, or should it be done in MARCEdit? I would like to have full information, Dewey classes, Publisher, Date, etc. for each of the records. I have 2133 books and so really wanted to do it by import rather than add each one individually. Has anyone any quick ways of doing this? Thank you. -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/What-do-I-do-with-my-MARC-records-tp33486… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Question about adding a item custom field for UNIMARC 955?
by Marilen Corciovei 19 Jan '11

19 Jan '11

Hello, I am trying to find if there is a default unimarc field to store a specific item data. None of the existing 955* subfields is suitable and I will have to also change the structure of Koha to allow for such field to be added since acquisition. My plan was to do the following steps: - choose an unused 955 subfield for my value - modify koha database to create an equivalent field in the items table - modify koha interface to handle this field in the acquisition module But I wanted to ask if someone already did something similar. My field is item specific and associated to multiple items. It's specific registry number given each time new acquisitions are made and it's different from the invoice no. Any suggestions are welcome. Many thanks. Len www.len.ro

slow koha
by Caitlin McGurk 19 Jan '11

19 Jan '11

Good morning, Koha has been running painfully slow for the past 2 or 3 days over here. It doesn't appear to be our internet connection, because everything else is moving pretty regularly. Any suggestions for a slow database? Thanks! Caitlin -- Caitlin McGurk *Librarian The Schulz Library The Center for Cartoon Studies <http://www.cartoonstudies.org> McGurk(a)cartoonstudies.org*

Can't call method "as_usmarc" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Search.pm line 2388.
by Geovana de Paula Santos Tarricone 19 Jan '11

19 Jan '11

Hi! Could someone help me? After I had cataloged my books, I did a search, on Intranet. Koha showed me a list with all my cataloged itens. When I clicked on page 2 of the list, I had the error: *Can't call method "as_usmarc" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Search.pm line 2388. * I'm using Koha 3.00.06 and I googled it and this problem occurs on: http://library.gretsauniversity.ac.ke/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=au:Hill… , but in OPAC. What should I do to fix it? Thanks in advance, Geovana.
