Record Matching Rule
by Zachary Spalding 20 Jan '11

20 Jan '11

I was wondering can someone give me a few tips on how to create a matching rule based on the 845$u field. I have several electronic resources in Koha now and would like to re-import them and match them again. -- Zachary Spalding Systems Manager Southeastern NY Library Resources Council 21 S. marc

I have installed koha in a gnu/Linux system. I want to upload csv data file to koha database. I need a software to make marc file whch is working in a gnu/linux system. It is inconvenient for me to use marcedit using wine, since it uses proprietary softwares like Microsoft's .NET 2.0 Framework. I don't understand why a free software community like KOHA uses marcedit in linux. Can anybody suggest a software to in place of marcedit. -- Priyadarsan K. by makekee＠msu.ac.zw 20 Jan '11

Hi I am trying to migrate my current data into Koha. My current system keeps its holdings information in the lfollowing fields: 852a - Location 852k - call number prefix 852h - classification part 852i - Item part 852p - Barcode 852t - Copy number Now, I have managed to map all the other sub fields into Koha's 952 field. I need to map 852khi to 952o to have a full call number. What do I really do? barcode printing and catalogue homepage make-up
by alen vodopijevec 20 Jan '11

Dear list, there are two "utilities" that we would like to share. We use them internally but maybe someone else will find them useful. *1. Koha barcode to PDF* Generate PDF-s containing item barcodes. We use ordinary laser printer for printing labels on A4 paper. You can easily customize application for any paper and label format. Additionally, there is form for filtering records (by patron, callnumber, barcode) with few other parameters concerning paper saving issues :). Get it from: https://github.com/alenkovich/Koha-barcode-to-PDF *2. Book covers on catalogue homepage* Script generates html (full html page or just <table>) with recently acquired books for inclusion into your existing web pages. It uses Koha table "aqorders" for getting newest biblios. We run it from cron every few minutes to avoid possible unnecessary database load. Generated content is then shown on our Koha catalogue homepage and Library home. Get it from: https://github.com/alenkovich/Koha-recently-acquired-books We also have one "very ugly" perl script as an example for ISIS(unimarc) to Koha(marc21) conversion but I'll push the code on github as soon as I catch some spare time to clean it a little bit. Re: [Koha] Koha upgradation

Dear Prasnth, Another solution to upgrade Koha 2 to 3 is that, 1. Export all records as MARC-21 using Export option. 2. Export user details from database as csv file. 3. Edit the MARC-21 using MARC Edit software. 4. Install latest version of Koha. 5. Import the marc file Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. Fail searching barcode from advanced search in staff client
by Vimal Kumar 20 Jan '11

20 Jan '11

Dear Friends, I noticed a problem with search using barcode. I tried to find barcode (Accession Number) of a particular book from Advanced Search in Koha staff client. I selected barcode in search field, and entered barcode. I didnt got the proper result. I searched for barcode 50 , it result the books with barcode 5 , 500, 5000, 50000 . How can we precise the barcode search result? Another thing is, In version 3.00, from search result, all books barcode will display. It is to identify barcode of the book without go to detailed description. See the screenshot. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/v8clRxcnI4iWHldI_thC1Q?feat=directlink In version 3.02, barcode not display in search result. To see the barcode we have to click on individual record. Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. Re: [Koha] Overdue notifications not being sent out

Thanks for the quick response Chris, To add clarity, we are running koha 3.02.02.000 on ubuntu linux 10.04.1 We have process message queue on cron as shown below. #KOHA CRONJOBS PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib/ KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml KOHA_CRON_PATH=/usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/ # ADVANCE NOTICES 10 1 * * * $KOHA_CRON_PATH/advance_notices.pl -c # SEND EMAILS 15 * * * * $KOHA_CRON_PATH/process_message_queue.pl When i manually run the process message_queue command on the terminal, i get: SMS::Send driver SMS::Send does not exist, or is not installed at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/SMS.pm line 78 I know SMS::Send is installed and i can actually locate it: # locate SMS::Send /usr/local/share/man/man3/SMS::Send.3pm /usr/local/share/man/man3/SMS::Send::AU::Test.3pm /usr/local/share/man/man3/SMS::Send::Driver.3pm /usr/local/share/man/man3/SMS::Send::Test.3pm So am still stuck. The decimal points are important as you can see. If it is 3.2.0 (3.2.2 is the current stable) do you have process message queue running in cron? Chris On 19 Jan 2011 19:12, "benson Mugambi" <mnjoben(a)yahoo.co.uk> wrote: Hi folks, I need someone to point the way here. We are running koha 3.02 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. The server is configured to send email using sendmail via a smarthost. I have run a series of tests and established that the system has no issues in forwarding email. However in koha, the system is sending out notifications for new accounts and reservations, but not overdue notifications and reminders. When i check some of the patron's notices, i find too many pending notifications. We have configured messaging appropriately, added the email notifications to cron and it used to work well until we upgraded from koha 3.0. So what could we have done wrong? what can i do to fix this and purge all pending notifications?
