Upgrade 3.02.02.001 -> 3.03.00.010
by alen vodopijevec 10 Jan '11

I have upgraded my development version from 3.2.x to 3.3 from git master but administration URL was always redirecting me to database update message screen. After submiting Upgrade, next page said "everything's fine" but it kept redirecting me to the first step.. Then I manually changed (uhm) version number in database: mysql> update systempreferences set value="3.0300010" where variable='Version'; .. now it seems that everything is fine, database content is ok. So, is it safe to leave system in that shape and why did it happen anyway? Thanks in advance.. Regards, alen -- Rudjer Boskovic Institute Library http://library.irb.hr

Tag " " is not valid in koha/lib/C4/biblio.pm
by martin caris 10 Jan '11

Hello, I have a little problem when I want to save my biblio record (from my own MARC framework) . An error appears: Tag " " is not a valid tag at usr/share/koha/lib/C4/biblio.pm line 1864. This line (in this file) is the next: & GetMarcFromKohaField ("biblio.biblionumber", ' '); What's the error?? What can I do even if I'm not the webmaster but the librarian? Thanks Martin Caris

Upgrading from 3.0.6 to 3.2.1 - Perl woes
by jason sherman 10 Jan '11

Hi all, I'm attempting to upgrade our system (ubuntu 8.04 w/ perl 5.8.8, koha 3.0.6) to the latest stable, but I'm running into a problem. Make test repeatedly threw: "MarkIssueReturned" is not exported by the C4::Circulation module Some discussion of this turned up on the IRC log, leading me to believe I could ignore the error and proceed. Now that I have run the upgrade, the web server spits out the same error. The discussion on IRC made sound like it has something to do with running Perl 5.8.8, although I couldn't find anything conclusive. Perl 5.8.8 meets the minimum requirements, so it should work, right? Ultimately, I can just build a local install of Perl 5.10, but I would like to avoid that if possible. I appreciate any insight you can offer. Thanks! -- Jason Sherman Systems Librarian University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 405.574.1340

recipe for setting up Koha in virtual machine and dev environment
by Reed Wade 08 Jan '11

08 Jan '11

I've just posted a how-to guide which some may find helpful for setting up Koha for the first time. I would be happy for updates and corrections to it-- http://blog.triumphovermadness.com/2011/01/setting-up-koha-in-virtual-envir… It's aimed at the not-a-librarian-and-easily-confused person mainly because that's kind of who I am. It was created from notes I made setting up my development environment and my at home Koha iti. thanks, -reed
