KOHA on windows install problem
by Nasiru Yakubu 24 Dec '10

24 Dec '10

Hi all I have a problem with our KOHA installation. I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. On the catalog module of our Intranet, it shows the bib and item records but only the bib record is displayed on the OPAC and no copies (Non reservable) nis displayed. I also noticed on the server that on the intranet, Parameters:MARC Links:items, page is empty. It was working fine and all of a sudden it stopped working. The install details are as follows: windows server 2008 Koha version 2.2.9 Apache version 2.0 MySQL version 4.1 Active Perl version 5.8.8 build 820 Any help would be appreciated -- Regards M N Yakubu (0805 703 2980) American University of Nigeria Lamido Zubairu Way PMB 2250 Yola Adamawa state

Hi All, My name is Michael. We here, at the NCAR Library (http://library.ucar.edu/) have recently migrated to Koha from Sirsi-Dynix. Our primary struggle at the moment is teaching ourselves the ins and outs of the Serials module and connecting subscription records to purchase orders. Glad to be here, and looking forward to some Koha knowledge-sharing! m

Dear Savitra and Owen, Thank you for the quick response. I unlocked the Author field by making Administration>Bibliographic Framework>Thesaurus > blank. I am waiting for the solution to remove " ? Chris, We do not run a GIT repository for our Koha system yet. However, we do have several demo installations for Koha 3.2.x that we can use to patch with. Today is weekend here in Saudi Arabia so our tech staff are out of the office. Our Koha programmers will resume working on Saturday. I will ask someone to uncomment the availability code as you have suggested and see if it works. Thanks, Massoud M. Hi Henri Damien Its actually because the availability check is commented out in the code. MT 2299 .... and MT2298. If you check the irc logs for today you will see me talking about it. I was going to talk to you about it so thanks for the reminder. Maybe there was a follow up commit that was never pushed? If you uncomment the availability code it works again. I'm not seeing this in the 3.2 installs we run http://www.library.org.nz/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=kw&q=maori%20batt… We will need to know more info, because limiting to available items seems to work fine in the 6 opacs I tried. No results match your search for “available” in Catalog

Hi, I know this issue has been faced with previous Koha releases and it was under discussion a while ago in the mailing list, but now it continues to appear with Koha 3.2 and 3.2.1 releases!! The search filter for (only Available items) does not want to go away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *No Result found!* No results match your search for “available” in Catalog. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The last I heard is that it has been flagged as a Bug early this year. I was hoping it will be fixed by now. Does anyone have a clue how to find a fix ? Thanks Massoud M. koha 3.2.1 search more than one word
by massoud alshareef 21 Dec '10

Hello, Yes we have the ICU enabled. Today we found a solution though. The problem is solved when we we changed the default value "automatically" set for the System Preferences / Searching Preference / QueryAutoTruncate to "Only if * is added" instead. By the way, Zebra truncation support for non-English languages is a show stopper; tell you the truth I look forward for the day when Koha switches its Full-Text Search engine to Solr in place of Zebra. Walter McGinnis from Katipo will tell you how Zebra poor handing of multi-lingual truncation had made a big disadvantgae for Kete to be used by non-english content users because of the lack of searching support in their native language. It surely did for us. Massoud M. AlShareef, عالم الانجازات ينحاز دوماً مع المتفائلين The world of achievement has always belonged to the optimist! KnowledgeWare Technologies (P.O.
