Z39.50 server for children's books
by CTS-Programmer 3 (Paul Dokken) 26 Oct '14

Does anybody know of a Z39.50 server that would have Scholastic books, and lesser known Christian books? I've seen the directory at http://irspy.indexdata.com but this does not help. Also, what server would have DVDs in them? We are not finding any of our DVDs in any server. We are currently using British Library, Columbia University, Metro-Boston Library Network, Smithsonian Institution Libraries, Library of Congress. Re: [Koha] email notices about hold awaiting
by Arslan Farooq 23 Oct '14

Hi guys, I'm on Koha 3.16.4 installed using Debian package. I explored a bit, and here is what I've found out: Let's say a book is issued, and two people have placed hold on it, Bob and Arslan. Bob has priority over Arslan. When I check-in the book, Koha gives me a message "Hold Found" and gives option to "Confirm Hold". See http://i.imgur.com/JFOZhi1.png I "Confirm Hold", and now the book's hold page looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/3TvWLpI.png, and an email is sent to Bob. Note the "Priority" column, and the selected option "Waiting". Now, if we issue the book to "Bob", or if we/he cancel his hold request, then there will be only one hold left in the queue, for Arslan. See http://i.imgur.com/QD0DKYq.png. Note the "Priority" column again, now it won't have the "Waiting" option. Only option other then numerical priority is the option "del". Question: Is this a bug? The non-availability of "Waiting" option in the "Priority" column? I think there is no way to turn a hold into "Waiting" state, except when checking-in a book. That means no way to inform the patron when a hold is available (auto email) if we press "Ignore" in this step: http://i.imgur.com/JFOZhi1.png Arslan -- Electronic Resource Librarian SZABIST Islamabad www.szabist-isb.edu.pk arslan.farooq(a)szabist-isb.edu.pk +92 514 863 363-65

email notices about hold awaiting
by Saira Asghar 23 Oct '14

Dear All I am using Ubuntu Koha 3.16. I am facing an issue. When 2 or 3 persons reserved an issued book system sets priority for them. As that issued book returned in library, system send an auto generated email (Hold awaiting for pick up) to the person who is at first priority. when that person issues this book and return it in the library, system send an email for holds awaiting pick up to the person in queue and so on... But if first person cancel his hold after receiving email for holds awaiting pick up, System does not send email to the person in queue. So He can Pick it from library. Would anyone please tell what should do for this situation. If patron at first priority cancel his hold, system should send an email to the other in queue. -- *Regards* Saira Asghar Librarian Namal College, 30-Kilometer Talagang Road, Mianwali, Pakistan. Search boxes and save record box doing unexpected things in 3.16
by Elaine Bradtke 22 Oct '14

22 Oct '14

I'm getting reports from our staff that since we upgraded production to 3.16.04 there have been strange things happening on the screen in the staff interface. Aside from one instance of problem 1) below, I have not been able to replicate these things on my end. I have asked them to send me the info on what browser and OS they're running. I have also asked them to refresh the browser to see if this clears it up. Because we're 8 time zones apart, trouble shooting sometimes takes a while. 1) After searching, and clicking through to a single record the search box at the top changes to patron search. (This I saw happen once, but after many searches, it hasn't happened again on my machine (Mac OS X and Chrome). 2) "in normal view, a save record box appears below the item record box, which is something new and unnecessary". (I have looked at several records, different item types, edited and unedited - and I have not seen this at all, but I don't think they're making it up). Is this, as I suspect, a browser problem? Has anyone else seen this happen? -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England.
