Re: [Koha] Transport Cost Matrix
by BRANNON, CHRISTOPHER 18 Oct '14

18 Oct '14

Nancy, We have been using the transport cost matrix since it came out. I don't recall it needing another cron job. I believe all you do is set the costs and then turn on the UseTransportCostMatrix preference. We have loved it. The only thing I have noticed is that disabling a section doesn't seem to have any effect. We disabled a couple libraries and it still tried to transfer items between the libraries we disabled. ___________________________ Christopher Brannon IT Coordinator 702 E Front Ave Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814 (208)769-2315 Ext. 456 cbrannon(a)cdalibrary.org www.cdalibrary.org Keep tabs on us at: Date: Thu, 16 Oct 2014 16:54:07 +0000 From: "Keener, Nancy" <NKeener(a)washoecounty.us> To: "'koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz'" <koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz> Subject: [Koha] Transport Cost Matrix Message-ID: <3045309C7DBA194394265B704846AE50011A986489(a)WCMAILMBX2.washoecounty.us> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Has anyone had experience with using the "transport cost matrix" for calculating which branch will fill a hold first? Parsing barcodes
by Jeramey Valley 17 Oct '14

17 Oct '14

Our migration to Koha is going well. One issue we've hit is that a portion of our barcodes have "extra" characters in the bar code. For example, one book has a bar code that physically displays "T 9568" and when read by a bar code scanner it is shown as "00095680023"; the bar code in Koha is 9568 and when the librarian deals with the item, the bar code to them is just 9568. So when it is scanned, Koha can not find the item. If 9568 is manually keyed in, it is found. In our old circulation system, there were rules set up in the software to drop those leading zeros as well as the trailing characters. I've not found where this feature exists in Koha. Hopefully I've just missed it. Previous discussion on this mailing list that I could find indicated that it was not a feature, but that discussion was on previous versions. We are on 3.16.04.000 under Debian. Producing new bar code labels is the ultimate solution, but with >5000 books to do per library, it's not an immediate solution for us. Our new, cheaper, bar code readers do not appear to have the ability to modify the barcode output that it is reading. I'm still researching our older bar code readers to see if they do have that ability (finding the manuals for the old ones is a bit trickier). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -- Regards, Jeramey Valley Network Manager, Bullock Creek Schools valleyj(a)bcreek.org

Digitisation of the BBC Radio Times, behind the scenes.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/internet/posts/Genome-behind-the-scenes I figured this'd be worth posting here as it's likely to be of interest to both librarians (archival of a large amount of historic data), and Koha developers (Apache, Perl, Template::Toolkit should all sound familiar.) I wouldn't object to rewriting Koha to use Dancer though, I have to say :) -- Robin Sheat Catalyst IT Ltd. ✆ +64 4 803 2204 GPG: 5FA7 4B49 1E4D CAA4 4C38 8505 77F5 B724 F871 3BDF

Export records to RIS to Latin-1 instead of UTF
by Hugo Agud 16 Oct '14

16 Oct '14

Dear all I am struggeling with Koha export to RIS for further import to Zotero local The problem is that the exported file is latin-1 codification instead of utf-8, the direct export from koha to zotero with the firefox add-on works fine, but not the export file. I have tested server koha 3.16.4, 3.14.3, 3.14.11 and 3.17 I have tested with Mac OSX Chrome, Firefox and Windows I have found the following patch: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=12174 and it seems it is for firefox add-on, and it works fine. is this a feature or a bug (exporting to latin-1) Thanks you in advance -- *Hugo Agud - Orex Digital * *www.orex.es <http://www.orex.es>* Director Passatge de la Llançadera, 3 · 08338 Premià de Dalt - Tel: 93 539 40 70 hagud(a)orex.es · http://www.orex.es/ No imprima este mensaje a no ser que sea necesario. Re: [Koha] Can't get jquery scripts to work in koha
by BOUIS Sonia 16 Oct '14

16 Oct '14

Hi, In fact, this script is made for the OPAC and not for the intranet advanced search. You can paste it in opacuserjs instead of intranetuserjs. I hope that will help you. Best regards. Sonia Date: Sat, 11 Oct 2014 19:11:24 -0400 From: Marty Jongepier <marty.jongepier(a)gmail.com> To: koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz Subject: [Koha] Can't get jquery scripts to work in koha Message-ID: <CAAHp-SxWJH_PV4t6jhNY3c5X45R=f+7jvLbK9-z9coUnK_3kLA(a)mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Hi all, I tried to get a jquery to work in koha 3.16.04.000, using iceweasel with iced-tea web plugin. Since i am new to jquery, I tried two existing jquery scripts, I copied and pasted from here; http://www.mydk-tomic.net/?q=node/17, which should be a script that gives me 3 different words in the advanced search page, instead of 3 times keyword, I want title, author and subject, or whatever else I choose . Apparently this script should do it; $(document).ready(function(){ $("#booleansearch option:eq(0)[value='ti']").attr('selected','selected');$("#booleansearch option:eq(1)[value='au,wrdl']").attr('selected','selected');$("#booleansearch option:eq(2)[value='su,wrdl']").attr('selected','selected');}); I pasted that in the intranetuserjs system preference, and behold; nothing is happening. I still get keyword, keyword, keyword. So I tried something else, and found in the koha jquery library a script by Nicole C. Engard (and I am convinced she KNOWS what she is doing) to change the text of the OPAC login form. I pasted that into the opacuserjs system preference, and that did not do anything either. Just for reference, I pasted that in here as well (see end of message). So, what do I do wrong? Did I miss a setting, is there a kind of main switch preference for turning jquery on or off? Thanks!
