Login to Koha from a remote computer...
by John Shewfelt 30 Oct '14

30 Oct '14

Good afternoon, My apologies if this is a dumb question... I have inherited a partly set up Koha configuration - 3.16, Debian, Zebra - and I would like to be able to login to Koha from my laptop when I am away from the library. As near as I can ascertain, no IP range has been established. While I can access the Koha login page from my laptop, I cannot be authenticated and gain access. However, when I am in the Library, using our local wireless, I have no problem. Can anyone tell me where I can find the appropriate configuration tool to access Koha remotely. Clearly something was set up to account for our local IP range, but I can't see where it was set up. Thanks very much! John

Withdrawn items show up as available in Staff client search results
by Steven Nickerson 30 Oct '14

30 Oct '14

Hello all, I seem to recall a discussion on this in the past but I can't find the answer/solution for some reason. I have a 3.16.03 package install version on Debian. If we mark an item as "withdrawn" and then search for it, if we get a list of multiple search results the withdrawn item shows up as "1 item, 1 available" but if we click on the title of the item to get details, in the details page it shows with a status of "Withdrawn" properly. Is there a way to get the search results "summary" page to show what we think to be a more appropriate status other than "available"? Thanks! Steve

Checkout Book appearing in ascending order of issued date
by amutsikiwa＠uzlib.uz.ac.zw 30 Oct '14

30 Oct '14

Hi I am running Koha 3.16.4. In the circulation module, on the patron record, checked out books are appearing in ascending order of issued date from the oldest to the current. My users want them to appear in descending order so that the latest borrowed books appear on the top. How do I go about achieving that. Subject links not obeying 'UseAuthoritiesForTracings' setting
by Justin Rittenhouse 29 Oct '14

29 Oct '14

Hello, We're working on upgrading our instance of Koha from 3.6.4 to 3.14.7, and we've run into an issue with the UseAuthoritiesForTracings setting. It doesn't appear that Koha is obeying this setting, as we're seeing some subjects link to "an:###" searches instead of "su:Words" searches. The tricky part is that it's only some records, not all. It appears to be on a bib by bib basis. We're not actually using authorities at this point, but at some point in the past some authorities records were created. Is there something we're missing, or something we should be deleting to correct this? Cataloguing multi-volume sets
by Željko Puškarić 29 Oct '14

29 Oct '14

Hi everyone, I am looking for a way to catalogue multi volume sets (like multi-volume encyclopedia). We have our records in Birema/ISIS application which implements multi-volume sets as hierarchical records (UNIMARC field 461, equivalent MARC21 field 774). What I would like to have is parent record with listed volumes and a link in child records to parent record. I linked records and got parent record title in child record listed under "Linked with:" but it's not a link. Is there a way to catalog hierarchical records in Koha the way I described? With Best Regards Zeljko Puskaric

Help needed testing setting reserves' last pickup date via issuing rules.
by Kivilahti Olli-Antti 29 Oct '14

29 Oct '14

Hi there! We found Bug 8367 lying around half-finished and decided to rebase it and finish its implementation. This is important for us because our bookmobiles have serious issues due to being unable to set an alternate last pickup date for their reserves. The bookmobiles have different routes every week and the caught holds expire on shelves while the borrowers can't fetch them. We are looking for help from the community in "Signing off" this ancient feature so it won't get obsoleted by time again. -- Olli-Antti Kivilahti Systemz developer vaarakirjastot.fi +358 50 449 7763 --Powered by Kubuntu Linux!
