Re: [Koha] barcode
by Via Vitae Solutions 15 Jul '15

Hi, Actually it the Accession Number only that pasted in form of Barcode Sticker on a Book. (in Koha this Accession Number is termed as Barcode - MARC21 Tag 952$p; after searching any catalog you can found it's item barcodes in the result output page). While check out if you do not found any barcode sticker pasted on the book then you must look for Accession Number on it and put it manually in "Enter item barcode:" and click on "Check out" button. Find attached screenshots - we hope these may help you > [image: Inline image 1] > > that is or where to change so that may be it need accession number to > check > out an item > On Tue, Jul 7, 2015 at 11:28 AM, regina kivuyo [Trimmed] -- Via Vitae Solutions Kolkata - 700064 India

RDA Framework??
by Jesse Lambertson 15 Jul '15

15 Jul '15

Hello and Happy Friday! I saw this link to the RDA Framework in a different thread (converting marc21 from aacr2 to rda) I was looking over the frameworks in my Koha instance and it seems I added a new RDA framework to KOHA - or am I confused? *Framework: RDA / Description: RDA Framework*. Do I need to import this RDA framework also? http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/MARC_frameworks Will it overwrite what is already in the system or is it the same thing? RDA is not the default framework in Koha right? Just wanted to clarify. Also, when that framework is used as the default, does that also mean that mediatype and carrier (etc) data are also displayed in the OPAC? And, finally, whew... If my previous records are not RDA, how challenging is it to convert the previous default framework to the RDA framework? Thank you much, Jesse -- Jesse A Lambertson Librarian Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center 1100 16th St, NW Washington, DC 20036 Ph: (202)-677-3967 Ext. 104 jlambertson(a)sqcc.org

Koha LDAP configuration
by deno.karapatakis＠srnl.doe.gov 13 Jul '15

13 Jul '15

not sure this is the correct list. We've setup Koha 3.20 and would like to configure Koha to use LDAP only for authentication, ie logins (no mapping or attributes). Koha is running on Redhat 6.6 I can successfully query LDAP (Active Directory) using linux command ldapsearch binding to email address however I can not seem to correctly configure koha-conf.xml. I believe I read over all how to's but I continue to get LDAP bind failed as kohauser someUserID: LDAP error #8: LDAP_STRONG_AUTH_REQUIRED server requires authentication be performed with a SASL mechanism via the web login and running opac-user.pl username=someUserID password=someUserIDpassword > junk.txt Other then the ldap statements in koha-conf.xml are there any that would have koha use the ldap.conf file? Hi, Colleen-- I'm sorry that you've found cataloging non-physical items in MARC frustrating--I catalog a lot of non-physical resources in MARC (and have for a long time, both with AACR2R & RDA), so please let me know if I could answer any questions you might have. by Crago, Rebecca 13 Jul '15

13 Jul '15

Mercyhurst University has just launched our new library website! We are now using Drupal, so I wanted to reach out to other Koha/Drupal libraries. http://library.mercyhurst.edu We use Ebsco's EDS and integrated our catalog search using their 'Build a search box' code (http://support.ebscohost.com/eit/sbb.php) What features are you using on your Koha/Drupal site? Database without tables
by Angel 13 Jul '15

13 Jul '15

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hello all. I'm trying to install koha-common in Debian Jessie but the instance remains empty, I don't know why. Details: the server is a remote server accessing using ssh, operative system is Debian Jessie, the server where I've installed koha is the same running mysql so I understand I have to use koha-create - --create-db, but the result is a warning about empty instance and no staff user created. If I obseve the database using mysl, I can see the database but wiht no tables into. If I go to OPAC or intra sites, the only I get is a field to write a search and nothing else. Regards and thanks in advanced. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2 iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJVm/+FAAoJEPploz+wCpxH+9IP/2JKpiNVsZjw7Kdb1O9qjbvE bZkZRxUTU2opmeXUYqY1mhb8feP6PRweYDNB4MxxVIfDv1iV+wA/geDS/XDDT2I5 Tw1sCwYmDcyoOlyCH5kqcLpstUaVWSYK4GRXi4atPT60m1OzqOZqhYKe15TfqgTy n6K9pSZBsk3GBG3yjaCs33Qrk/BO2bqy/qCsKJsd9YyPKaqm/YtEbqOEddhck4Lt 1oeNLSh11Sx8amOO1KjzNCeIyzhhXT/TJAOnrxvWqMDoayf+ipnhZZ6hmIhGmPmZ /3LpXrkdpvSOFR27f9LWTJj+0d3esJc50MEli6ldOuceZP98hIBCo4s9RDa8jqlk /53PPzZXBVwOzN8N5aQ0Z5dmPXqHFqumW18uf1VgMRTioX3+jzQ2GUL4GhDeadQ5 /e+oQ7ptQQ4rxwKelSvsVbk1xE+gq3ywelqR/8voAGvYwvgDPdude7xUjq+zZJww 4L1W+rJqtsS9Hni5VOmfnHtTXGzjrA8t3Wre3F9VBMJWbzHhaXunUzyhF20cqdeq e4ygD4k2YxZJaCIAZewxF4Iq0pITESdYFvVIjpWFU3we3hy/0OnYTk5PCM/l3IQG nUSmXOI6lzHxUh1E/GLhSt49JrxUh6VRj5GVf9jxGKe8pU4pp75FvEnRxZNWXRMI r2bPLvYE2t8LoNcePVPD =umIn -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Use koha as a reference database
by mobam 12 Jul '15

12 Jul '15

Dear koha-community! This is an amazing project! Thank you all for it! We somehow want to divert Koha slightly from its intended use – and we asked ourselves two questions: 1. Has anyone ever did the same? (My forum search suggests: no) 2. Is it a good idea? Does it make sense? Or are there better alternatives? First of all, we’re no library and we won’t loan books or any other stuff. Basically, we 'just' plan to build a comprehensive database of all relevant bibliographic data in a certain field and continually update it with new data. This database will mainly contain books, book chapters and journal articles and some grey literature. For the last two types, we also want to provide pdf files – if they are open accessible and we have author’s permisson (if needed). Why did we choose Koha? The idea behind our decision was to have a multi featured user interface, where one is enabled to do professional searches within a huge list of literature and where the software also provides additional features. Specifically, we were looking for an OPAC, like the ones we knew from university libraries. The next rationale for Koha was the integrated search function for MARC records, in order to get quality bibliographic data very easily. And last but not least, the possibility to save or export tha gathered data in a format, that is likely to be used in the future, so that the work will not turn out to be for nothing at some point. Do you think, what we are planning to do, is a good idea? Thanks in advance for answers! mobam -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Use-koha-as-a-reference-database-tp584679… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
