Backup and migrate Koha from one server to another
by Kitty Chan 24 Jul '15

24 Jul '15

I am migrating Koha from one server to another. On the old server, I run # koha-dump library I got two dump files for the database and the configuration On the new server, I run # koha-restore sqldumpfile configdumpfile I see that on the new server, I have the new instance folders in the /etc/koha/sites and also the new databases. However, when I access http://library-admin.usj.edu.mo:8080, I was asked to lead to the " Welcome to the Koha web installer" web page. I thought I should be displayed with the admin login page to access my old Koha server contents. Can anyone tell me what has been done wrong here? Or what is the appropriate procedure to move Koha from one server to another? Regards, Kitty

Generating dollar value reports

I'm a newbie, so I apologize if this is a dumb question, but I'm under a time crunch and need some help. How can I run a quick report that tells me the dollar value of our library's inventory? I've got a report for the total number of items by type, but can't figure out how to generate the $$$. Many thanks, and please feel free to email me directly with any suggestions. Bug in mainpage.pl?
by Angel 22 Jul '15

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hello all. I've just installed kohan on Debian Jessie, I'm testing and configuring, sometimes I get screen warning to not connect to server. In intranet-error.log I can see errors in cgi: "search.pl: CGI::param called in list context from package main line 169, this can lead to vulnerabilities. See the warning in "Fetching the value or values of a single named parameter" at /usr/share/perl5/CGI.pm line 436." I was searchig for the warning, and it seems that mainpage.pl in koha-common needs to be fixed, but I don't know how. Or perhaps there is other way avoid the error. Re: [Koha] Building OAI sets error

I'm assuming you installed with packages (it'd be silly not to on ubuntu) in which case you just need to run sudo koha-shell before running the command. If for some strange reason you aren't using packages. Then still nothing needs to be installed you just need to set and export the KOHA_CONF and PERL5LIB variables. Display of Scrolling New Arrivals List on Koha OPAC
by vinod mishra 21 Jul '15

21 Jul '15

Dear Koha users, It is nice to share one trick/Jugar to display the scrolling list of New Arrivals in your library OPAC or even at your library website. Go to advance search than select the Item type one by one all like Books, CD/DVD, Thesis, e-books, reference books etc. than simply hit the SEARCH button (Without entering any kew words), it will display all your library materials result than sort the result by “Acquisition date : Newest to oldest” . After that select the RSS feed red color icon on top which will display the same result list, than copy the link location and paste it in any rss feed scroller available on internet like http://feed.mikle.com/ <http://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Ffeed.mikle.com%2F&h=UAQEMvojp&en…> . Now just paste the entire code as instructed in the feed reader website after necessary modifications like number of item to display, color etc. on your Koha opac system preferences. You can also use the List option to create one list of new arrivals and than use the above steps (version 3.20 and above). For example please see below link: http://opac.nitrkl.ac.in/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl -- *With Regards,Vinod Kumar Mishra,Assistant Librarian,Biju Patnaik Central Library (BPCL),* *NIT Rourkela,* *Sundergadh-769008,* *Odisha,* *India.* *Mob:91+9439420860* *Website: http://mishravk.com/ <http://mishravk.com/>*

Re: [Koha] Display of Scrolling New Arrivals List on Koha, OPAC
by Kivilahti Olli-Antti 21 Jul '15

Hi there! Using the acquisition date as the "newest material" sortin index is problematic because the Items are sorted in the acquisiton order, meaning that the topmost results have not yet arrived to the library and might not arrive in many months if you preorder your Items. See http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=13707 this adds a new column datereceived, which tells when the Item has been actually received to your library. Then the borrowers can find what material actually exists in his library. Olli-Antti Kivilahti Järjestelmäkeittäjä vaarakirjastot.fi +358 50 449 7763 --Powered by Kubuntu Linux!
