Bengali searching is not working in KOHA 3.20 (bug 14561)

Hi dear, recently I installed koha 3.20 in Debian Jessie. Everything is running okay. But when I search any Bengali term from Intranet it shows - ------- Software error: Cannot decode string with wide characters at /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.20/Encode.pm line 215. For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. -------- Though I added # UTF-8 Defaults for Koha init-connect='SET NAMES utf8' character-set-server=utf8 collation-server=utf8_general_ci in /etc/mysql/my.cnf file. and AddCharset UTF-8 .utf8 AddDefaultCharset UTF-8 in /etc/apache2/conf-available/charset.conf But Bengali Searching from OPAC is ok. Please help - Software error

Dear All, I am running koha on debian 7.1 and I get the following error when i try to login to staff client. Software error: Can't call method "param" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 780. For help, please send mail to the webmaster ([no address given]), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. KOHA SIP2 HOLD items information failed

Koha OAI-PMH / EBSCO !!!

En miras de la integración de EDS (Ebsco Discovery Service) con nuestra instalación de Koha requerimos hacer uso del servidor "OAI-PMH" de Koha para lo cual lo activamos y esta funcional y se pueden hacer consultas en este enlace: http://clavius.tij.uia.mx/cgi-bin/koha/oai.pl?verb=ListRecords&metadataPref… En los resultados mostrados no aparecen los datos del campo 952 que en Koha reflejan las existencias de los registros y esta iinformación es requerida por EDS para la correcta puesta en marcha del servicio. He investigado en la red y se habla de un posible bug pero tambien parece ser un problema del formato de despliegue "xslt" que no incluye este campo. Me gustaria que me ayudaran a clarificar en donde puede estar el problema y si es posible como solucionarlo. Para este proyecto acabamos de actualizar a Koha 3.20.x sobre Debian. Hi there! I have been working to get the new REST API working with Koha. Big issues are authenticating the REST API and doing browser-based automated testing. However there are some pretty fundamental issues in Koha that make working with those topics very difficult. PERMISSIONS: First of all the permissions system is very hard to manipulate outside of the user space. There is no internal Koha API for granting/revoking specific permissions. This is a huge issue with integration testing where we need to easily set up test context with proper permissions. Also there is no way currently to conveniently operate permissions using a REST API. So we would need to rewrite the permission back-end anyway. Bug 14540<http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14540> - Move member-flags.pl to PermissionsManager to better manage permissions for testing. deals with this issue and rewrites the internal permission mechanism, while preserving the end-user experience as it was. This enables us as testers to easily setUp and tearDown permissions for automated browser testing sessions. I recommend you take a look, as the rewrite is well tested and covered with WebDriver-tests. INTEGRATION TESTING: I have implemented a integration testing framework using the PageObject-pattern to create clear and robust browser tests. These browser tests don't need any additional servers to install, but rely on system packages (apt-get install phantomjs) to make the integration tests. These tests instantiate a real browser with javascript execution capability, and make real HTTP requests to the configured host and port, simulating real user interactions as accurately as possible. There are also two debugging interfaces for the automated test agent to make it more easy to script the user session. Bug 14536<http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14536> - PageObject-pattern base implementation DEALING WITH EXCEPTIONS: In Koha we currently don't have any established mechanism of propagating errors from business/database-layer to the end-user, and conveniently catching them and presenting them. Currently we return $error-variables from subroutines, which makes programming more challenging, and tedious, especially if we need to propagate the same errors through multipe subroutine calls to the end-user. I have implemented to Koha an Exception-system very similar from other programming languages. Quite frankly this is an industry standard nowadays and a best-practice for dealing with things-going-wrong. It helps a lot in programming defensively. Thank you Scott. It had crossed my brain that we might need to clear the database and re-import everything again. That is not too huge an issue, but is still an extra step. We seem to have close to exactly the same setup - Koha, Drupal, EDS, ezproxy. https://library.education.govt.nz - though you won't get much out of that as the site requires login (I know, I know...). Major things we're doing which involve both Drupal and Koha are 1) Using drupal module ILS authentication and some extra jiggery-pokery that's beyond my ken to tie Koha and Drupal authentication and users together (same logins, login in one system automatically logs into the other, Koha borrower.categorycodes are mapped to Drupal roles which allows differentiation of content of drupal site for different groups of users). 2) Drupal asks Koha to run a report nightly (basic data for new/selected records - title, abstract, subjects terms, url etc) and creates nodes from the results which are presented as new resources in the website and are emailed out by Drupal to borrowers who have signed up for alerts in various subject areas. We also used Ebsco's 'Build a search box' to give users access to EDS, and still have a Koha search option alongside. Our ezproxy uses Koha to Authenticate users as well so same username/password for users without us having to think about it (not sure how yours is configured). Hi Tim, Thanks for sharing your site and experience with Koha and Drupal! You have an interesting setup with your authentication and user attribution. We authenticate using LDAP with our institution's Active Directory database, and import user attributes with Koha's patron import tool. We pull AD information into the csv using Colleague. Do you create your user records in Koha, or import them from another system? We use a similar method to authenticate our users with EZproxy. I am very interested in the nightly report that presents new resources on your site. Is that used to display the New Books section at the bottom of your homepage? Could you point me in the direction of the Drupal module or configuration that does this?
