In current iteration of Koha ILS, given the following marc authorities in marcxml format: The first record: <record> <leader>01877nz a2200433o 4500</leader> <controlfield tag="001">1</controlfield> .... </datafield> <datafield tag="151" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">Borneo</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="550" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="w">g</subfield> <subfield code="a">South East Asia</subfield> <subfield code="c">c_7260</subfield> </datafield> </record> The second record: <record> <leader>02462nz a2200553o 4500</leader> <controlfield tag="001">2</controlfield> ... <datafield tag="151" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">South East Asia</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="550" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="w">h</subfield> <subfield code="a">Borneo</subfield> <subfield code="c">c_1017</subfield> </datafield> </record> Is there a way in linking Borneo with Southeast Asia and vice versa? Such that the control no. is added in 550 tag like below: Authority Record no. 1: <datafield tag="151" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">Borneo</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="550" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="w">g</subfield> <subfield code="a">South East Asia</subfield> <subfield code="c">c_7260</subfield> <subfield code="0">2</subfield> </datafield> Authority Record no. 2: <datafield tag="151" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="a">South East Asia</subfield> </datafield> <datafield tag="550" ind1=" " ind2=" "> <subfield code="w">h</subfield> <subfield code="a">Borneo</subfield> <subfield code="c">c_1017</subfield> <subfield code="0">1</subfield> Or if this was in MARC: =001 1 =035 \\$ac_1017 =151 \\$aBorneo =550 \\$wg$aSouth East Asia$cc_7260$02 =LDR 02462nz a2200553o 4500 =001 2 =035 \\$ac_7260 =151 \\$aSouth East Asia =550 \\$wh$aBorneo$cc_1017$01 Has anybody done such use case? Or is this possible in Koha? Is there a cronjob that should be run in order to link or merge these authorities? I see the merge authority cron job merges the authorities with the biblios. Thanks in advance and cheers! -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/koha-authorities-update-linking-authoriti… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Hiding search results for a different library
by Tim Koop 20 Sep '15

20 Sep '15

We have two libraries, and we'd like to kinda keep them separate. Is there a way to hide search results from every other library other than the one you are currently using? I know you can do this with the advanced search, but is there a way to do it with the quick "Search the catalog" search? Thanks. -- Tim

Hello, We don't use it but I know there's a syspref called SearchMyLibraryFirst where you can choose to limit patrons' searches to the library they are registered at. But your patrons should be logged to the opac to have this limit. Regards, Sonia We have two libraries, and we'd like to kinda keep them separate. Mini Material Type Icon
by Caitlin Kleinpaste 18 Sep '15

18 Sep '15

Does anyone know how to change the mini material type icon? I'm using 3.20.03.000. When we imported, it seemed to randomly decide that some items are books and others are not, regardless of what they actually are. It's confusing to the patrons when a DVD is listed as "DVD" in location and "Book" in material type. I've looked through the marc records and done lots of googling but I can't seem to figure out what codes for this. 18. What to use, UNIMARC or MARC21 ?
by Curtis Rempel 17 Sep '15

17 Sep '15

Greetings, I’ve been exploring how to convert our aging church library system (running L4U, which is aimed at school libraries) to koha. So far I’ve got everything installed and running in a vm (so I can easily snapshot and revert when I mess it up) with the patron list imported after running the exported list from L4U through some scripts to fix up data and build a csv file. Next on the list is the catalog. L4U exports in MARC format which should be easy enough to import, however, during koha config, I had to choose between UNIMARC or MARC21. Full disclaimer: I’m a Linux guy, I wouldn’t know a UNIMARC or a MARC21 record if one fell out of the sky and knocked me out cold. :-) How would one know what to choose here? Would I somehow be able to determine what MARC flavour the L4U export is? Does it even matter? I’m sure I’ll come up with more questions but for now I’m going to forge ahead and try to import the catalog and see what happens. Thanks in advance! Curtis Rempel

Search -- doing comparisons on acquisition date
by Barton Chittenden 17 Sep '15

17 Sep '15

I'm trying to figure out how to do date comparisons based on Acquisition date. The best information that I have is here: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.18/en/searchguide.html#searchguide-syntax Using the following pattern found in the documentation: su=supreme court and yr,st-numeric=>2000 I constructed the following search, which should have returned results: cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?idx=acqdate,st-date-normalized&q=>2015-08-01 I have bibs indexed that have acquisition dates greater than 2015-08-01, but this returned the followng: Results of search for 'acqdate,st-date-normalized: >2015-08-01' No results found! I believe that date comparisons should be possible using CCL, according to what I've been able to glean from indexdata I must be missing somthing here... Thanks, --Barton
