Koha and Nullmailer: can they work together?
by Odyssey Laertes 13 Sep '15

13 Sep '15

I have Koha 3.18 installed on my Ubuntu notebook for testing purposes, and right now I am trying to make Koha's emailing work. Since this is not meant to be a production environment I have not need (and prefer to avoid) to install a full-blown mail server, like Postfix. I have Nullmailer installed and it relays the messages from cron jobs through my gmail account. It works fine. I was hoping that Koha would be able to do the same but it looks like it does not work with Nullmailer. I get error messages Access Denied and my best guess it is happening because it tries to contact localhost on port 25 and Nullmailer does not listen on port 25. My Drupal sites that are sitting on the same notebook, for comparison, do not have problems with sending e-mails through Nullmailer. Does anybody know if it is possible to make Koha work with Nullmailer? Nataliya

Self-checkout behavior
by uwe 12 Sep '15

12 Sep '15

Hello, I have a question to the self-checkout-module. As documentated I enabled in the preferences "AutoSelfCheckAllowed" with "AutoSelfCheckID" (a special user with circulation rights, for example "MyCheckoutRobot") and the "AutoSelfCheckPass". Then I log in in the OPAC as a another patron (e.g. "Uwe") without any rights and go to the self-checkout-page and log in too. If I now go back to the OPAC I'm suddenly logged in as the in the preferences defined user (in this example "MyCheckoutRobot"). Perhaps I don't understand the module. But how can I prevent the user change in the OPAC from "Uwe" to "MyCheckoutRobot"? What I only want is that a normal patron can use the self-checkout-system. Thanks and best wishes Uwe

adding MARC tags (not in framework) while cataloguing
by Giuseppe Angilella 12 Sep '15

12 Sep '15

Hi, I occasionally need to add unfrequently used MARC tags to new records, even though they are not present (=active for staff) in the default MARC framework. I realize that it is possible to activate those tags by (temporarily) modifying the default MARC framework, or that one can save the record in MARC format, edit it via MarcEdit, and then re-import the record, including any additional tag. Isn't it possible to activate MARC tags at cataloguing time? Many thanks and best regards, Giuseppe.

Koha and LDAP: Password comparison fails
by uwe 12 Sep '15

12 Sep '15

Hello, we have a Koha-Installation and would like to connect to our OpenLDAP -server, but I can't get it to work. First our Koha setup: > OS: debian wheezy > Koha: 3.20.02 Connecting to ldap-server works fine but the password comparison fails with the follwing error (tested in the console but also fails in the web gui; also given password is correct): > root@biblio:/etc/koha/sites/MY_SITE# env PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/sites/MY_SITE/koha-conf.xml perl /usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/opac/opac-user.pl userid=MY_MAIL_NAME@MY_ ORG.org password=MY_PASSWORD. | head -5 > Got 2 ldap mapkeys ( total ): userid > Got 2 ldap mapkeys (populated): userid > Checking Auth at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Auth.pm line 703, <DATA> line 558. > kohaversion : 3.2002000 > ## checkpw - checking LDAP > LDAP Auth rejected : invalid password for user 'MY_MAIL_NAME(a)MY_ORG.o rg'. Configuration in koha-conf.xml, see below. Our ldap-server uses SSHA as password sheme. Could this be the problem? How can I solve it? Can't find much usefull when searching internet for the problem. Can I limit the opac to see only the main library?
by Tim Koop 11 Sep '15

11 Sep '15

We have a group of books that only certain people are allowed to check out. At first we were thinking of giving these books a different Item Type, but maybe they should exist in their own new Library. I think making a new library is a better plan. But what about the opac? We don't want them showing up there at all, because regular patrons won't be able to sign them out. Is it possible to limit the opac to see only the main library? Thanks. -- Tim

Gives you a nice load spread, plus if one DC happens to be down, only some logons will fail. (verify with "host samba.domain.com" reveral times in a row, it should normally return different ip's, dependin on your number of dc's) Base should be your users container. Principal took me some time to understand: <principal_name>%s(a)samba.domain.com</principal_name> %s is replaced with a username, so in my example koha tries to bind as username(a)samba.domain.com I think the above explains it all?
