Greetings! We have roughly have 400,000 collections, cataloged in koha. We are experiencing *"504 Gateway Time-out The server didn't respond in time."* whenever the keyword we are searching has a several of results. Can you please give us inputs from your own experience on how are we going to optimize the server, to make it seamless. Intranet Edit help encoding problem

Koha 3.16.3 search

Hello all, Koha 3.16.3 search not accurate for example searching the following Arabic phrase مدخل الى تنمية الموارد البشرية مع دراسة الواقع في الدول العربية returns (مدخل الى علم الاثار) as the first result, and couldn't see the exact phrase ( مدخل الى تنمية الموارد البشرية مع دراسة الواقع في الدول العربية ) at subsequent results we are using ICU also. any suggestions??? Koha error 2.2.8

hi, I try to newand try to install koha 2.2.8 on my system windows 7 32 bit with 1.Apache http server 2.2 at location @ C>Program files>Apache Software Foundation>Apache2.2 2.Active Pearl 5.20 at location c:/usr 3. MySql 4.1 4.koha 2.2.8 i successfully installed the koha installation with error state that koha is tested on 5.8.8.x.x still i continue the installation process successfully without any error. when i try to access the url for koha it gives an error 500 internal server error. i checked the log files in apache log ataching them. please help!!! thanks

Koha and Nullmailer: can they work together?

I have Koha 3.18 installed on my Ubuntu notebook for testing purposes, and right now I am trying to make Koha's emailing work. Since this is not meant to be a production environment I have not need (and prefer to avoid) to install a full-blown mail server, like Postfix. I have Nullmailer installed and it relays the messages from cron jobs through my gmail account. It works fine. I was hoping that Koha would be able to do the same but it looks like it does not work with Nullmailer. I get error messages Access Denied and my best guess it is happening because it tries to contact localhost on port 25 and Nullmailer does not listen on port 25. My Drupal sites that are sitting on the same notebook, for comparison, do not have problems with sending e-mails through Nullmailer. Does anybody know if it is possible to make Koha work with Nullmailer? Nataliya

Self-checkout behavior

Hello, I have a question to the self-checkout-module. As documentated I enabled in the preferences "AutoSelfCheckAllowed" with "AutoSelfCheckID" (a special user with circulation rights, for example "MyCheckoutRobot") and the "AutoSelfCheckPass". Then I log in in the OPAC as a another patron (e.g. "Uwe") without any rights and go to the self-checkout-page and log in too. If I now go back to the OPAC I'm suddenly logged in as the in the preferences defined user (in this example "MyCheckoutRobot"). Perhaps I don't understand the module. But how can I prevent the user change in the OPAC from "Uwe" to "MyCheckoutRobot"? What I only want is that a normal patron can use the self-checkout-system. Thanks and best wishes Uwe

adding MARC tags (not in framework) while cataloguing

Hi, I occasionally need to add unfrequently used MARC tags to new records, even though they are not present (=active for staff) in the default MARC framework. I realize that it is possible to activate those tags by (temporarily) modifying the default MARC framework, or that one can save the record in MARC format, edit it via MarcEdit, and then re-import the record, including any additional tag. Isn't it possible to activate MARC tags at cataloguing time? Many thanks and best regards, Giuseppe.

Koha and LDAP: Password comparison fails

Hello, we have a Koha-Installation and would like to connect to our OpenLDAP -server, but I can't get it to work. Can I limit the opac to see only the main library?

We have a group of books that only certain people are allowed to check out. At first we were thinking of giving these books a different Item Type, but maybe they should exist in their own new Library. I think making a new library is a better plan. But what about the opac? We don't want them showing up there at all, because regular patrons won't be able to sign them out. Is it possible to limit the opac to see only the main library? Thanks. -- Tim
