Would anyone be interested in perl code that creates a form letter for an individual, for overdue books? I.e, the overdue.pl says X borrower has 3 books overdue. You click alongside one, and it pops up with a letter with their current address, city, email, the current date, "You have these books overdue:" and underneath that, has the book name, author and due date for each.. then, at the end says "You will incurr a fine of " <overdue fine> "for each day these books are overdue. Introduction and qustions

Greetings, I am attempting to migrate a @10,000 item catalog into Koha 1.9.2 and would greatly appreciate a little help. This migration is neccessary due to budget cuts here in Minnesota. Our state agency library was "cut" (i.e. no funding for our previous catalog system, PALS; our full time librarian layed off; books to be distributed to work teams). Rather than just throw out what was a quality catalog, my plan is to load the records into Koha and attempt to maintain basic collection management on the subset of books kept. I have a fair amout of Library/Perl/Mysql/Apache experience (I moved from Agency librarian to Web Coordinator/Developer a few years back: www.mnplan.state.mn.us) and hope to reach a point where I understand Koha well enough to contribue code. But first I have to get up and running... As a test I have uploaded a collection of MARC records to the breeding farm (the LOC MarcMaker/Breaker test files). It notes that 8 records were successfully uploaded. However, I am not able to get them into the catalog either by ISBN or title. Is this feature functional yet? When I click on " Add biblio without ISBN/ISSN" I get a list of the numbers 1-10. Clicking on all available links appear to do nothing. What should this page do/display? Has anyone tweeked bulkmarcimport.pl yet for the 1.9 series? Or are the tables structures betwen the 1.2 and 1.9 series different enought that the most efficient way to proceed with mass import would be to create a new script based around the NEWnewbibilio() function? Finally, if Koha 2.0 would solve any/many of these issues I can wait. Is there an estimated data of release? Thank you for any assistance in adopting Koha. IMPORTANT : migration tool arrived in CVS

Hi everybody, The NEW bulkmarcimport script everybody was waiting for just arrived in CVS. It will be released with 1.9.3 (probably today ?) It's located (in CVS tree) at $koharoot/misc/bulkmarcimport.pl It loads an iso2709 file into the ACTIVE Database. My 1st tests on sample files shows it works quite fine. Feel free to try it. How it works ? enter ./bulkmarcimport in a console, and look. Note : i'm proud, because it's less than 100 lines long => 99 lines !!! Note to *NPL* : i didn't test this on the file you send to me, as my MARC parameters are UNIMARC at the moment. I release the 1.9.3, then I test it. Other marcformats - danmarc2

Hi. I am testing out Koha but I can't test on real data because it only has marc21 and unimarc. Here in denmark we use the danmarc2 marcformat which has some varations to the other 2. For example ISBN is field 021 in danmarc2 and 020 in marc21. If I want koha to understand danmarc2 what would it take. Problems with Subject Searching

Questions from a new user

I am a librarian with the National Library of Trinidad and Tobago. With help from Rob Weir I was able to install Koha on a WindowsXP although I would very much like to use Linux in the future but at the moment I am completely unfamiliar with it. I am very excited over the possiblilities that it offers to libraries with limited resources although it compares very favourably with many integrated library management systems. I would like to implement it in one of the smaller libraries in our system but I am trying to understand it fully. Many of our libraries have MARC databases in the CDS/ISIS or the Windows version Winisis application. My main concern was being able to import records from their present system to Koha. I have been successful in exporting their records as an ISO file and importing them into Koha. With version 1.2.3 the importationit works well as with 1.9.2. However, in 1.9.2 the MARC worksheet displays only the 000s,100s and 200s. Is this one of the bugs to be corrected or is their a later version that I should install. Also, I could not find the option to create a record using a simple worksheet in version 1.9.2. Which version should I try a test run with? Good Afternoon All, After months of planning and discussions, a State Primary School I work for here in Melbourne, Australia, has decided to take the plunge and install Koha. Implementation Period: Starting work 19-June Koha Version: The latest stable version as at this date. I will keep you all updated with the status of the implementation and let you know if I come across any issues in the implementation. For commercial and privacy reasons, I don't wish to name the school on the list at this stage - but if anybody is interested or would like some more information - please don't hesitate to contact me directly. librarians wanted for interface "testing"

Hi all I'm doing some work on the interface for the new version of Koha, and am currently making up "screen shots" to show how it could work. Over the next week I'd really like to be able to ask a few people to look and help me understand particular sections of the interface - and probably not the sexy bits I'm afraid :-) So if you are a librarian - ie a potential (or actual user) of the system, and would be willing to have me fire of questions about how things should work, and critique the results etc, then I would love to hear from you. Borrower categories admin

I'm curious about some of the settings in Borrower Categories administration (/cgi-bin/koha/admin/categorie.pl). - Is Enrollment period a value in years? - How is Fine Type used? And Bulk?
