Good Morning All, Am after some kind words of advice from anyone who may know how to do this. On IRC, I spoke with Chris and asked the question, "Can I insert direct into Koha's database for migration, or does it have to be MARC format?" Chris' response implied that since v.1.3, that its not easy to insert direct into MySQL with the information and that I should contact the list as Paul may have some advice on either how to do it or, how I can create MARC from the structure I have. At the moment, I have tab delimetered file (as per attached (column headings up the top), but with quite a few more records in the file :)). Presently, I'm just seeking to get the library up by the end of the week and superfluous data fields (cost, the 'extent' column, acquisition year etc) are irrelevant if they'll be difficult to implement. FYG, my plan is to send off MARC requests (we have a request and receive type of system for MARC records from the Department of Education), put them in the breeding farm for those records with ISBN's so we can get some more information on the books than is currently stored in the system. If anyone has any ideas and or thoughts - or could be kind enough to point me in the direction of either: a. How to import the data direct into the MySQL tables - which tables and fields? (and I do have a pretty good knowledge of MySQL etc etc) b) How to create MARC from this data (limited knowledge of PERL, PHP etc but willing to learn to make it happen) Or, if anyone had the time to create the script required that would be tops. Thanks for your time and I'm really glad to be one of the people supporting Koha in our Government education department (primary school) as an Open Source alternative to the proprietary programs out there. Records in the original Koha tables have a biblionumber, while records in the MARC tables have a bibid, and the marc_biblio table keeps track of which biblionumber links to which bibid. If you are importing and adding MARC records, your bibid will generally be the same as your biblionumber. (Because of the nature of MARC records, you will almost always have one biblio and one biblioitems record for each MARC record.) I suspect what you are seeing with the MARC search tool is not the biblionumber but the bibid. Try doing a SELECT * FROM marc_subfield_table WHERE bibid = [?whatever the biblionumber was] and I bet you will see the same record you are seeing on the MARC search screen. I just sent a response to this, I hope you all got it, if not (I'm on a deadline for something), will elaborate later. Short item: Yes, there are french versions of the docs. I have the source, as does the doc controller (www.haz.cmsd.bc.ca/cgi-bin/upload, I think, for those of you with accounts on it). I have more info, and a beg/plead/hoping for assist request, which you may or mayn't have seen (silly webmail client may've eaten it)..... Multiple Marc Records

It appears from our brief look at Koha having just installed it that you can only input one Marc record at a time. Is there a way to import multiple records? I've created the patch that makes barcode NOT mandatory in Koha. It's in CVS, and will be in next public release. PS : for those intereseted : download CVS version somewhere. run updatedatabase script (don't forget to export PERL5LIB=/your/path/to/koha) That's all. Bonjour, I try to clean our Koha mysql database after that a librarian 'played' with the acquisitions module. I deleted the bilblionumber in biblio, biblioitems, items and marc_biblio . I can see my biblionumber still in the database after searching with catalogue/marc search tool. Paul, I installed the new addbiblio.tmpl and still had the problem. I did some working on the PopZ3950 function and found the real problem to be a space in the title parameter for the window.open function. Previously: newin=window.open('...', 'Z3950 Search', '....'); Now: reviously: newin=window.open('...', 'Z3950Search', '....'); And the search window pops up as it should. I don't know if this is a bug in addbiblio.tmpl or Internet Explorer, but either way the above change corrects the problem. I haven't replied yet because my search does not find anything when looking for an ISBN from the Library of Congress. I do a search from the LOC website directly and find it. So I have another issue I'm working on.
