z3950 searches failures

Hi, I've been using Koha for about 18 hours now. Yup, installed last night. :-) And I've got some question about publicly accessible z39.50 servers for MARC records. First, looking through the archives I see a suggestion that a list of publicly available might be complied. Has this happened? If so a pointer would be gratefully received. Side note: is there any effort at a coordinated free catalogue like the freecddb.org for music CD's? This is a project solely for myself and there's no way I can afford to pay out usd 500 for a subscription. Second I'm frustrated by the searches I have been able to do. The Library of Congress is already in the install. I've found and configured British Library, Library of Scotland and a "free trial" at Itsmark.com. So far I'm really disappointed at the level of response. I've tried 6 books by ISBN (which is the obvious way as I've a bar code reader to input the number) 2 US and 4 UK and 2 by author name. The author search found only one (and didn't return the book I had) from the LOC. ISBN search also found only one - wish some humour it was the O'Reilly HTML Pocket Reference. Here's the log entry for that good result: Processing isbn="1565925793" at 1 z3950.loc.gov:7090 voyager (4 forks) Q: @attr 1=7 "1565925793" SPEED: 1 z3950.loc.gov:7090 done 1 z3950.loc.gov:7090 done. However I have a bunch - in fact hundreds - of errors for the same search on the Itsmark server: Processing isbn="1565925793" at 2 z3950.itsmarc.com:5666 LCCurrentZ (2 forks) Q: @attr 1=7 "1565925793" ERROR: Can't call method "option" on an undefined value at /var/www/library/koha/intranet/scripts/z3950daemon/processz3950queue line 163, <KC> line 22. z3950.itsmarc.com:5666 done. That log is 3387 lines long. I can't see what value is "undefined". Can anyone suggest something? Cheers, Matthew

When I type http://localhost/cgi-bin/koha/opac-main.pl in browser, I got message below: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, aa(a)163.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) DAV/2 Server at localhost Port 80 Then I run command : perl opac-main.pl, I got message below: Can't locate C4/Auth.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /vservers/ireta/Library/cgi-bin/koha/C4 /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.1/i686-linux /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.1/i686-linux ......... >BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /vservers/ireta/Library/cgi-bin/opac/opac-main.pl line 7. My environment is like this: Debian(sid) koha2.0pre4 perl(5.8 updated from 5.6) apache2.0.47(compiled) Modules(installed before updated in woody), Mysql So what can I do to resolve it? Librarian permissions

Hi, I need to set permissions for my librarian. Some librarian needs to use acquisition module and others needs to use record and return module . Adding items on Koha

We are currently running Koha 1.2.3. The following issue keeps arising. We have many biblio records that dont have ISBN's and we would like to append items to these records. When we try to add items in Acquisitions the only way seems to be through finding the record with an ISBN number. As these records dont have an ISBN it appears that this is not possible. The only way around the issue (it appears) is to add a 'dummy' ISBN and then proceed through acquisitions. Is there anyway to add an item to a biblio if that biblio does not have an ISBN? Greetigns everyone! Shall I introduce myself, I am Monk Viktor from Valamo monastery, Finland. My work is, of course be a monk, but a other hand, I keep up our IT-department. Now, I known, there is always several questions, and here is answers of those questions...;) Yes, real monk, I coming the monastery at 1987, and we have computers, about 60 at this time. Okay, now we can move on a real thing. Our library, which has about 50000 items, seeking new librarysystem. One strong candidate is koha. I quote some words from our libray brochure... "The valamo monastery library is a thelogical research library. Its main topics are Orthodox theology and monastic traditions. The library serves the brotherhood and staff of the monastery, visitors, researchers and students. Collections The new collection contains about 30000 volumes of books, periodicals and magazines. Beside Orthodox theology it contains material on other religions, science of religion and philosophy of religion. Other branches of knowlegde, focus on humanistic and social sciences. There is also a reference section -literature published before 1919 and other rare volumes- and a periodicals section. The old Valamo monastery collection contains nearly 20000 volumes. These books and manuscripts are available for reference use to researchers. The old Valamo collection is written mostly in Old Church Slavonic and Russian. It contains a unique selection of old Russian liturgical and ascetical literature. The old Valamo collection is the largest collection of Russian Orthodox literature in Western Europe." Quote end. Now, we have old DOS-based system, which is not anymore "enough", because we want put old collection to catalogue, with cyrillic and maybe even church slavonic character set. I am installed and little bit hacked koha 2.0-pre4 and it seems working, with UTF-8 character set, at least latin and cyrillic characters. Dear All. I have running RH9.0 for installation of kaha. Perl is installed but installer.pl reports that some modules are missing. It suggest to run following- perl -MCPAN -e 'install "HTML::Template"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "Set::Scalar"' perl -MCPAN -e 'install "Net::Z3950"' ON RUNNING I START GETTING MODULES FROM FTP SEREVRS AND GIVES FOLLOWING ERRORS. -----------ERROR text start here-------------- Bad luck... Still failed! Can't access URL ftp://ftp.perl.org/pub/CPAN/modules/03modlist.data.gz. Please check, if the URLs I found in your configuration file () are valid. The urllist can be edited. E.g. with 'o conf urllist push ftp://myurl/' Could not fetch modules/03modlist.data.gz Going to write /root/.cpan/Metadata Warning: Cannot install HTML::Template, don't know what it is.
