The best way to implement multiple databases

Hello all, I am installing Koha 3.0 to catalog multiple databases for the same location. We are a small non-profit educational institution, where scholars come for advanced study. We have a collection that is only available to those on campus residents, and one that is available more widely to our members. I would like to set up the two databases on the same server, and configure Apache to listen on different ports or IP adresses for access to each of the catalogs. I want users to be able to browse via the OPAC without logging in. I can filter the traffic at the firewall to only allow access from off campus to the more widely available collection. I have read the doc online about the IndependentBranches option in the Global Preferences section, but am unclear on how this is implemented for each Library if it is turned on. I see that there is an IP option in the Libraries screen. If I fill that in with a different address for each Library, is it then a matter of adding a VirtualHost directive in the conf file? Or is there more config that needs to take place? Or am I better off installing this multiple times with separate databases for each catalog? Should I choose a Standard install, or are multiple Single installs the way to go? Just trying to get it right the first time. I am posting this a second time, as after a couple of hours the first post has not appeared and there is nothing in my email. Thanks, Doug

Email and MyMessaging in Koha 3

Koha v. 3.01.00.002 on Debian Etch I have been having some issues with the email function in Koha 3. Notifications to the admin email address are not being sent despite the appearance that they are. For example, when I log into the OPAC under my patron account, and change my personal details - I am notified that staff will update my details when they receive the notification. Those notifications don't seem to be making it through. The same goes for when I try to email my cart items to myself. I get a message notifying me that the message has been sent, but I never recieve the email. Another issue is that the OPAC and the Staff client show the options to update messaging - email, rss, SMS, do not notify, etc..., but both interfaces only show the heading, but no options to actually choose anything. This feature seemed to work in the version just before 3.01.00.002 if I remember correctly. I do have KohaEmailAdminAddress set with our email address and EnhancedMessagingPreferences set to ON Is anyone else having the same issues?

Koha error/fatal error

I had the following problem while trying to setup web installer... Is this a rights issue? Problem: When installing Koha 2.2.9 on Windows, the Mysql program does not install properly. It does not configure properly and there is no Mysql administrator. This means that in the path C:/Program Files/ Mysql/bin there is no file 'mysql.dump.exe" so we do not have the ability to save using either the admistrator or the dump function. We can use the data files - if these can be transfered to Koha 3.0.0 on Linux we do not have a problem, but if they can't we need to be able to install with the administrator or mysql.dump.exe function. Hoping you can help, Carmel

Item type appears twice

Hello all, I am doing a new install on Ubuntu 8.04, Koha 3.0 beta 2 and have Koha up and running. I am trying to import records that have been exported from a Follett system. These have an 852 record with info that Koha uses in the 952 record. I am running a script against these to copy the 852 record into the 952 record, and add a 942c field with an item type description based on info from the LDR field. When I run bulkmarkimport.pl against a test file, I wind up with the Item type description repeated when viewing in the Normal view on the OPAC. For instance, on the holdings tab under Item Type it will say "DVDs, VHS DVDS, VHS". If I import a record with a 942c field filled in but no 952 record, I get Holdings (0) and nothing listed. If there is a 952 record but no 942c field, I get Holdings (1) but no Item Type listed at all. A couple of notes, while doing the install I did install the Zebra option, but later chose not to use it (small database on old hardware). After the import I am successfully running rebuild_nozebra.pl. I haven't changed any of the defaults in the configuration, other than to create the library. I am using the default item type codes. Any idea why item type would double up? Thanks, Doug

If you're committed, try looking at the error log at /usr/local/koha/log/koha-error_log to see if any errors pop up when your records stack. URL encoding in links

When I search, the URL shows opac-search.pl?q=test. If I click on the show only available items link, the url changes to opac-search.pl?q%3Dtest&limit=available. It's encoding the "=" to a "%3D" so the results are only the available items and not also the "test" keyword. Has anyone else run into this problem, and has anyone else figured out how to fix it?
