Override renewals
by Sharon Moreland 17 Nov '08

17 Nov '08

Howdy, I'm pulling together an overview of 3.2 enhancements for our users group meeting tomorrow and wondered if Bugzilla enhancement 641 "Librarians should be able to override renewal limit" will be included. Does anyone know? Sharon Moreland Northeast Kansas Library System NExpress Shared Catalog

Fwd: transferring data from Windows 2.2.9 to Linux 3.0.0

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Carmel Young <carmely.cunima(a)googlemail.com> Date: Mon, 17 Nov 2008 08:25:28 +0200 Subject: transferring data from Windows 2.2.9 to Linux 3.0.0 To: koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz Received the following advice from the list (thanks heaps!!!), but can't follow the link in No. 3. > Koha mailing list > Koha at lists.katipo.co.nz > http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha > > Yes, you will. There is a tool called MySQL Query Browser that you can use to back up your 2.2.9 database. Then, here's what you have to do: 1. Recreate the 2.2.9 database on the Linux system, using the backup file that you transferred like so: mysql -u root -p koha < backup.sql (where koha is the name of your database and backup.sql is the backup file) 2. Install Koha 3.0.0 on the Linux system 3. Then follow this guide: http://wiki.koha**.org/doku.php?id=22_to_30 -- Jesse Weaver Software Developer, LibLime Any suggestions> Is the link good? Carmel Young P.S. I have added your name, Galen, because my posting bounced. Said I wasn't a member of the list, but I seem to be getting the emails no problem!

Adding schools as branches to a public library Koha install
by Tim McMahon 17 Nov '08

17 Nov '08

We're checking into the idea of adding the school district to a Koha 3 install. We were thinking of adding each school as a branch. We let Koha assign our patron barcodes and use our own item barcodes. The schools buy their item barcodes and use student numbers. There shouldn't be any overlap in our numbering systems. I'm looking for any tips on settings, importing items and patrons, things to look out for or anything else that would be helpful in a situation like this. -- Tim McMahon Technical Services West Liberty Public Library 400 N. FW: Koha Apache2 Issues?
by Barry Cannon 17 Nov '08

17 Nov '08

I have been trying to do a test DEB install of Koha 3.0 and I keep running in to the same issue. I get through the INSTALL doc fine, with no issues, but once I try to launch the web setup I keep getting redirected to the default apache site. Symbolic link is good as is the koha-httpd.conf file but I just can't figure out why it's not redirecting correctly. No help in either Apache log or Koha log. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks Barry

Circulation history and 3.2
by Sharon Moreland 17 Nov '08

17 Nov '08

Hello, According to the developer's wiki, the 3.2 System Groups work will be: 1. Adding the ability to link settings to a branch. This means that a setting can be “owned” by a branch, i.e., have one value or set of values at one branch and a different value at another. Settings that could be owned by a branch include: * item types * patron categories *acquisitions settings such as funds and currencies *selected system preferences *authorized values *notice templates (note that this is related to Mason’s RFC of May 29). *calendars *MARC record matching rules My question is this - will of those "selected system preferences" include the ability to turn off/on circulation history at the 'branch' level? Our consortium is made up of many independent public libraries and they would like to have local control of this feature. Sharon Moreland NEKLS/NExpress Thanks for the sound cue's info!

Notices
by Joe Tho 15 Nov '08

15 Nov '08

Hello, We have a consortium of several libraries, and are adding more. Each library has their own notices. I just tried to add my twenty-first notice, and after I save it I can't see it. Is there a limit to the number of notices Koha (version 3.01.00.002) can manage? Do any of you have more than twenty notices? Thanks, Joe ps: I had three notices that were mistakenly created in the catalog module instead of circulation. When I deleted these and tried to recreate them as circulation notices, I noticed this problem. I already tried naming my new notice entirely differently, with no resulting notice saved that way either. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Joe Tholen *\_ * Technology Coordinator * * SEK Regional Library System * * Office Phone: (620)365-5136 * * Office Fax: (620)365-5137 * * jtholen(a)sekls.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Re: [Koha] Catalog search returns "No results found"
by Melisa Canales 14 Nov '08

Hello, Thanks for your response. Checking the error logs is a good idea, but I'm not sure I understand what I am finding there. Also, I have found some errors when I do the MARC Bibliographic framework test. I was able to fix one of the errors but I'm still looking into the other one. Under the Item tag test the result is "There is more than 1 MARC tag related to items tab (10) : 852,952,". I think I understand what it means, but I don't know how or where to fix it. - mc On Tue, Nov 11, 2008 at 12:17 PM, Magnus Enger <magnus(a)enger.priv.no> wrote: > Hi, Melisa! > > Have you checked the error-logs?
