zebrasrv command not found, no results in search, patrons disappear
by Marty 01 Dec '08

01 Dec '08

When I run: debian:~# zebrasrv -c /root/koha-dev/etc/koha-conf.xml I get: bash: zebrasrv: command not found Do I have to set a path or something? Never had that before I get no results whatever when I search for a book. The database is not empty, a select author, title from bilio shows everything is in there. I have done a rebuild_zebra.pl All my patrons are in the database, I can find them in the list by clicking on the letters, (browse by last name) but when I click on a particular patron it tells me "This patron does not exist.". That won't go over too well I think when I tell them they don't exist... lol Any help, hints or ideas are appreciated because I am stuck... Thanks, Marty

loading volume information in 952
by john 01 Dec '08

01 Dec '08

Is there a specific 952 subfield to put volume information when loading marc files with item information stored in 952 subfields? We have information such as v.1, v.1 etc. in a separate subfield. Is there a specific 952 subfield to place that in or should it be appended to the call number subfield (952 |o). John Rutherford

How do I display item type in a record following a search?
by reapsmoor＠gmail.com 26 Nov '08

26 Nov '08

Dear all, I can't seem to find out how to do the above - I've tried comparing my set-up with one of the demo sites but can't find any differences that would account for this. Other fields in the record display fine, such as author, title, pub details and so on, as well as holdings, descriptions and comments in the box. On the staff side the item type displays fine. Thank you yet again - Jan

Simple manual cataloguing
by reapsmoor＠gmail.com 26 Nov '08

26 Nov '08

Dear colleagues, I am attempting to set up a simple catalogue for a small organisation. Koha has been installed and set up for me to go ahead with and I can't wait to enter our items. We really only need a handful of fields, such as acquisition no, author, title, pub details etc - probably max 10-12 in total and I want to use some non-librarian volunteers to do this work. The majority of our items are unique and not available through z3950 - although some are. I have read back through the archives and see that others have asked about this but I fear I don't properly understand the answers!! If I make a modified structure so that only one tab is used for cataloguing, instead of 9, wouldn't that also mean that when I want to import a record via z3950 the details would have no-where to go or....? Is there an online guide to doing this so that I can easily enter records in a simple way - I suspect otherwise I will be back with lots more basic questions! Many thanks Jan

Help on named stamp
by Akin Adigun 26 Nov '08

26 Nov '08

We would like koha to display the name under the cataloging and circulation records. We would want to identify the individual that catalogue a library item as well as the individual who issued an item to the customer/reader and to whom an item was returned. Something like:- catalogued by: display under catalogue items Issued by: Patron's Reading History Returned to: Patron's Reading History Akin Adigun (MCP) Akinomatics Tel: +2348035565348, +2348029219271
