Koha and RFID?
by Katrin Fischer 26 Nov '08

26 Nov '08

I read in the release notes, that Koha Supports SIP2: >To retrieve and interact with Circulation and Patron data, Koha 3 includes >support for 3M's Standard Interchange Protocol (SIP2), using the OpenNCIP >libraries (http://openncip.org) Is there some documentation besides http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=en:development:sip2? Are there libraries already using Koha and RFID-Tags instead of barcodes with self checkout? Thanks for your help! Regards, Katrin

stop words
by Rachel Hollis 25 Nov '08

25 Nov '08

Greetings colleagues, I'm setting up Koha 3 and noticed that there is a tip for Stop Words: "The zebra search engine works much better if you leave your stop words preference turned off. If this preference is off, there is no need to edit this list." There seems to be quite a few stop words... would the zebra search engine work better if there were fewer stop words in the list? importing .marc file + heavy time consumption
by bhaumik.patel 24 Nov '08

24 Nov '08

I am using koha version 3 I am importing the .marc files in the begining it stoped after 37K records, then as the time went the amount of data that can be uploaded decreased, and frequent hang-up's are encountered, I have to upload 2 lakh entries And this way I cant do it!!!!!! The first day it stopped, since mysql was creating binary files of 100mb each, and soon the disk got filled with 70Gb files and choked, by the time we came to know about the bug we thrice tried to upload the data, and it failed Then I disabled log generation by editing the my.cnf file I commented the lines :- ---------------------------------------------------------- log_bin = /var/log/mysql/mysql-bin.log expire_logs_days = 10 max_binlog_size = 100M ---------------------------------------------------------- and after it also the problem persisted:after uploading the marc files, after 50-60 rows updates and it stop again, then again i have to upload,stag-records and then import the file. Please solve the problem thanks in advance -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/importing-.marc-file-%2B-heavy-time-consumption-tp206… Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

KOHA CON 2009?
by David Schuster 23 Nov '08

23 Nov '08

There is a question on the table if this meeting announced as an American Conference for Koha should be more like a Koha Con 2009 with the format similar to 2006. With that we would like to schedule a meeting to discuss on IRC the KohaCon possibility. There is a wiki at: http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=kohacon2009 - to better help organize some of this... Who wants/would be interested in attending this IRC (and eventually a full conference?) What days of the week are best for this IRC? (sooner the better) Times are best for you - GMT for this IRC? - http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/ In this discussion we would talk if a developer meeting is of interest? Should it be pre or post the Conferece that is being planned for April 16/17 in the US? How much time should be considered 1 or 2 days? What should those days look like? Where is the best place to house them(how many is of concern along with other needed items if they are to meet) In addition I would love to hear any input this group might have for the April 16/17 "conference" as well. Presentations - workshop etc... how it should be structured for a meeting of users and developers. Staging MARC files
by Cab Vinton 21 Nov '08

21 Nov '08

Hi all: We've been doing a retrospective conversion project in-house & we've created a file with some 4,200 MARC records (approx. 3-4 mb), using v.3.01.00.002. I'm in the process of trying to stage these records into the reservoir. It's taking a very long time, however, so I'm wondering if folks have any guidelines or rules of thumb about preferred file size / max # of records per file. The most I believe I've staged at one time previously was 54, which went very smoothly. A separate question: When managing staged records, it looks like users have access to just the last 15 batches. Is this correct? Thank you, Cab Vinton, Director Sanbornton Public Library Sanbornton, NH
