mysql password problems during install

Hello All, During the install of Koha 3 on Debian Etch at step 2.1 of the INSTALL.debian.txt document it states: 2.1 Update root MySQL password (if dselect didn't do it for you already) $ sudo mysqladmin password <password> The question is what do you do if dselect already did set a password????? It seems a cache 22 situation to me. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Adios, Robert

Sorry, I don't have any experience installing Koha. Loading bib records from reservoir

Dear List We have downloaded Koha 3 on Linux and set all parameters. We have downloaded some test records into the reservoir using the Z39.50 connection and added item records. However, when we search the catalogue for these records they still appear in the reservoir not the catalogue. Any records added manually do not appear in either the catalogue or the reservoir. How do we make the records change from the reservoir to the catalogue? Also what do you do to make manually added records appear in the catalogue? We would appreciate your help. Uploading Bibs from staging area...Koha

Need help with reports

Please help, We have been running Koha for almost a year, current version is : Linux koha 2.6.18-6-amd64 #1 SMP Sat May 24 09:34:54 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux We would like to produce a report of "lost" items. We have been able to produce an inventory list of our collection (Accounts and Reports - Catalog Statistics - Inventory/Stocktaking - Generate Report) that curiously does NOT include lost items. transfering data from 2.2.9 to koha 3.0

I managed to get koha 3.0 on my screen. Yeah! However, I imported data from 2.2.9 to 3.0 with mysqldump and I can search for patrons but if I click on any of them, the system says the user doesn't exist. Searches for books do not return any results. The books are in the database. Did I miss doing something? And, would koha 3 be faster with zebra installed? It seems really slow, but that also could be because my test system is a not so knew pentium 3? Thanks, Marty

Have just finished setting up a Linux Machine and would like to Install Koha 3.0. Which package should be installed first before Koha? It is Mysql, Perl, Apache2? Can also someone provide some of the important command? Hi, We are a small special library (archaeology and cultural heritage) of about 80.000 items. We're currently considering changing our library system and are considering Koha. In order to get all our data in the system, we would require the use of the 773 and 774 fields. I've been experimenting a bit with koha 3 (zebra enabled), but I can't seem to get these fields to work. I'm trying to create links between records using the 773$w and 774$W subfields (control numbers). I've tried to find out as much as I could from the perl scripts, but I'm not very familiar with the language. Does Koha do anything with these fields? If so, what does it do with them and how should I use them? Kind regards, Maarten
