Migration: Retaining search data from non-marc system

Dear all, This is somewhat of a librarian question, rather than a Koha technical question. Please let me know if there's a newsgroup (OCLC?, LOC?) that would more appropriately field this sort of question. Otherwise, here it is, a re-write of one that I asked on 26-April: As part of our migration to Koha, we're implementing MARC standard. Over many years we've input our own Subject and keyword material to facilitate searching. 1) We suppose it's a good idea to use Z39.50 searches to "upgrade" migrated records to MARC 2) We don't want to overwrite our own proprietary information that was mapped/migrated to MARC 1xx - 8xx. (As I understand it, 9xx is not affected on Z39.50 updates. In addition to 9xx, is a Z39.50 update of a specific record limited by the Koha MARC biblio framework that's being used? ) Do we simply keep data from the old system in 9xx, and then write customized searches to include 9xx along with 650 subject, 5xx General Notes, etc. Or should we simply not bother with doing the Z39.50 searches for migrated holdings. i.e. only do Z39.50 with new entries added one-by-one within Koha. Melanie, It sounds like you didn't get your holdings data in the 952 record. New SIP Problem

Has anyone come across this error? <login> element has non-unique value in 'id' key attribute: selfc1 at /Sip/Configuration.pm line 33 Had SIP2 Server running fine last night on Koha3. Had to stop SIP server to change login and password, and now I am getting this message. Rebooted server. Still getting message. Is this a bug? SQL library: fast growth

Ok. I just changed the SQL library so the one table has been divided between topics suggested by Sharon Moreland. I moved around the reports and added a wishlist area. I'll keep track of these and move them as SQL language is added. That was fast growth. Thanx for all your participation. Thanks Sharon, Lenora and all. I added a couple of our more interesting reports to the list and loaded in several wishes too! Getting administrative reports that group all the branches together is a big goal for me. I can't write and run separate reports for 90 sites! Thanks again. Help Needed

Hello Everybody, A pleasant good day to you. My name is Imran Mohamed from the University of Guyana and I am a part of the team that is currently customizing Koha ILS v3. We are almost through setting up the relevant frameworks and customizing the software. However, we are experiencing some problems in one of the framework. The error is encountered when adding a MARC record and is as follows: Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Tag "" is not a valid tag. at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 2534 Apache Server version: Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) Server built: Jan 20 2009 17:29:25 Koha 3.00.00.107 Koha DB 3.0000107 MySQL mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.32, for pc-linux-gnu (i486) using readline 5.2 OS Linux canaan 2.6.18-6-k7 #1 SMP Tue Jun 17 22:06:22 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux Perl 5.008008 Another problem we are encountering is when a book is overdue, the fines are not calculated although the book is showing up as overdue. All of the fine rules were already set up. Also, seeing that we are almost finished customizing, we would like to know what is the best way to enter records into the system. Would it be best manually, one by one or use the Library of Congress database. Please advise us as soon as possible. Thank you. I haven't seen an announcement, but there was talk at the Koha Conference that a SQL repository would be developed so we could post our most excellent SQL reports and wouldn't all have to write the same report request over and over.
