I'm going to put in a ME Too to agree with Eric. The new site is lovely. However, the site really needs to be vendor independent or small libraries are going to turn away under the impression that they need to use a vendor to install and use the software. As for contributions, I think Eric is correct that contributions by a paid company should be attributed to the people who actually paid for them. Perhaps something that states the contribution was paid for by ... and programming/development by ... One quick CSS fix...the documentation link in the top tabs overruns the right hand line. Thanx. Hi Franck I have installed all these componests as intructed. perl-XML-SAX perl-XML-SAX-Base perl-XML-SAX-Expat perl-XML-LibXML I really need your help.. i couldnt install XML::LibXSLT and encountered error when i ran this command "zebrasrv-2.0 -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml" Error message "zebrasrv-2.0: Option -f unsupported since YAZ is compiled without Libxml2 support" Error message "CPAN.pm: Going to build P/PA/PAJAS/XML-LibXSLT-1.68.tar.gz running xslt-config... ok looking for -lxslt... no libxslt not found Try setting LIBS and INC values on the command line Or get libxslt and libxml2 from http://www.libxml.org/ If you install via RPMs, make sure you also install the -devel RPMs, as this is where the headers (.h files) are. No 'Makefile' created PAJAS/XML-LibXSLT-1.68.tar.gz /usr/bin/perl Makefile.PL -testdb=test -testuser=test -testpass=test -- NOT OK Running make test Make had some problems, won't test Running make install Make had some problems, won't install" I have attached a document showing my version of yaz and zebra. However i encountered failure on some of the steps. For example: 1. when i install CPAN::MARC::File::XML or Net:Z3950:Zoom,i got the below error message Failed 1/22 test programs. 1/706 subtests failed. make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 255 MIRK/Net-Z3950-ZOOM-1.25.tar.gz /usr/bin/make test -- NOT OK //hint// to see the cpan-testers results for installing this module, try: reports MIRK/Net-Z3950-ZOOM-1.25.tar.gz Running make install make test had returned bad status, won't install without force How do i resolve this issue before i continue with the remaining steps? Thank you!! Hi Tony, To install Koha 3.0.1 on Centos 5.2, you can mostly follow the installation guide for Fedora 7 (INSTALL.fedora7 in koha tarball). Yet you'll need to adapt it slightly, especially because not all packages are available in CentOS repository. Add rpmforge yum repository [See http://www.ultranetsolutions.com/CentOS-5-install-rpmforge-yum-repo.html Or http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/RPMForge ] The most tedious part is installation of Perl required packages. When it fails to install using cpan you can try to install the rpm instead. Make sure to install perl-XML-SAX-Expat as there is an issue with perl-XML-SAX with wide characters I installed successfully idzebra 2.0-2.0.32 and yaz 3.0.32-1 from http://ftp.indexdata.dk/pub/zebra/redhat/fc6/ and http://ftp.indexdata.dk/pub/yaz/redhat/fc6/ At the end of installation, you need to create a symbolic link from /usr/bin/zebraidx to /usr/bin/zebraidx-2.0 and from /usr/bin/zebrasrv to /usr/bin/zebrasrv-2.0 and to install daemon (http://libslack.org/daemon/) Otherwise you won't be able to use the start/stop scripts installed in /usr/share/koha/bin. Add the following two comment lines to koha-zebra-ctl.sh (after #!/bin/bash) # chkconfig: 12345 98 02 # description: Zebrasvr provides search service to koha And the following to koha-zebraqueue-ctl.sh # chkconfig: 12345 99 01 # description: Zebraqueue process the biblio & authorities to be indexed And create two symbolic links /etc/init.d/koha-zebra-daemon -> /usr/share/koha/bin/koha-zebra-ctl.sh /etc/init.d/koha-zebraqueue-daemon -> /usr/share/koha/bin/koha-zebraqueue-ctl.sh This way you can add the two start/stop scripts as services chkconfig --add koha-zebra-daemon chkconfig --add koha-zebraqueue-daemon Regards Franck -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Koha-on-CentOS-5.2-tp23364598p23420142.html Sent from the Koha - Discuss mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list Koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha Try cool new skins, plus more space for friends. Digital Archive Development
by gsl 12 May '09

12 May '09

I'd like to suggest that those of us with some free time on our hands might like to keep a loose watch on the DSpace and Fedora-Commons Projects. Those two development efforts are working on digital archives, and they seem to have a lot of active, progressive development that might be of interest to the Koha group. Here's a snip of a press release I just got. It's an excerpt; if anybody wants the full text just email me. ------------------------------------------ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 12, 2009 Contact: Carol Minton Morris, clt6(a)cornell.edu, (607) 255-2702 Contact: Michele Kimpton, michele(a)dspace.org Contact: Sandy Payette, spayette(a)fedora-commons.org Fedora Commons and DSpace Foundation Join Together to Create DuraSpace™ Organization Ithaca, NY, Boston, MA --- Fedora Commons and the DSpace Foundation, two of the largest providers of open source software for managing and providing access to digital content, have announced today that they will join their organizations to pursue a common mission. Jointly, they will provide leadership and innovation in open source technologies for global communities who manage, preserve, and provide access to digital content. The joined organization, named “DuraSpace,” will sustain and grow its flagship repository platforms - Fedora and DSpace. DuraSpace will also expand its portfolio by offering new technologies and services that respond to the dynamic environment of the Web and to new requirements from existing and future users. DuraSpace will focus on supporting existing communities and will also engage a larger and more diverse group of stakeholders in support of its not-for-profit mission. The organization will be led by an executive team consisting of Sandy Payette (Chief Executive Officer), Michele Kimpton (Chief Business Officer), and Brad McLean (Chief Technology Officer) and will operate out of offices in Ithaca, NY and Cambridge, MA. ------------------------snip------------------ Greg Lawson Network Administrator Rolling Hills Consolidated Library 1912 N. Koha users feeback
by Frederic Demians 12 May '09

12 May '09

There's been discussions recently on how to improve Koha community exchanges, especially between librarians and developers. It has been decided to use bugs.koha.org in order to gather user enhancement demands. And then came up the issue to find a way to select demands which will effectively be developed. Why not to use an user-friendly web service like uservoice.com? Feedback submitting is coupled to a voting system. It should look like that: http://koha.uservoice.com -- Frédéric

I reinstated koha user list as a recipient because everyone can play "find the koha web pages" and help limit the search ranking damage.
